I'd be really interested to know how you hooked up the tablet to the megasquirt (including the hardware used) - if you have time for a bit of a write up

!!! I might have to copy you. I was looking at a HALTECH dash, but I was having trouble justifying $800+ on it.

steadfast. Is it possible that I can come see the car and chat with you about dealing with the dmv (if that's okay with you of course). There aren't many builds here in CA, and that sucks. So once I saw that you building one here I got a little too excited. Please let me know if that's a possibility. Thank you sir.

Used a nexus 7 tablet that I bought off of Amazon used for less than $100. The software that I used is tunerstudio.com/index.php/shadowdashmsmenuI have it setup now by bluetooth, but you can also setup by USB. It is a fantastic display setup for just $100 + $9.99 (app cost). The display is bright and clearly shows all engine parameters that are needed.

Just curious to see where you are on the turbo, are you still planning to do the FM II minus the electronics? I am seriously planning to go full FMII, just wanted to see your plans and thoughts.

I am still planning. I now have Megasquirt up and running (very well I might add). I've already tapped my oil pan (just capped off). I have the injectors. Just need turbo, intercooler, manifold, downpipe. I am keeping my eye out on the open market for something used as well. Time will tell, but boost will happen this year.

I have a couple questions I think you could answer quickly.
I am wondering what to do with the VIN on the donor, I was about to sell my dash and hopefully soon I'll be getting rid of the body too. I think they each have a VIN attached to them, do I need to take them out for registration in CA? Any other CA registration advice you feel would be good to share? Did you have to do any smog checks, the guy at the inspection office I called said you could virtually register a race engine.
I'm thinking about putting a turbo on my car but I think the FM Voodoo kit is the right choice for me, easy to install, cheaper and can use all of the stock engine internals while nearly doubling power.

Just save your pennies for the FM kit. It's worth it. Actually I think they sell an Exocet specific version now.

What would be different in the exocet version? Exhaust?

What would be different in the exocet version? Exhaust? Oil line and exhaust mounts.

I think they each have a VIN attached to them, do I need to take them out for registration in CA? Any other CA registration advice you feel would be good to share? I'm thinking about putting a turbo on my car but I think the FM Voodoo kit is the right choice for me, easy to install, cheaper and can use all of the stock engine internals while nearly doubling power. So for the donor, I got a junk slip from the DMV and had a scrap metal guy come get the tub. The dash was sold locally, and just did a basic bill of sale for the dash. If you are able to sell the body, just sign the title over with it. I made copies of mine for good measure but never needed to use it. It sounds like you need to learn a lot more about the SB100 process, of which I've mapped out in my build. If you would like to talk futher shoot me a PM and we can chat. The only way to legally register an Exocet in CA is to under the SB100 process. It is very simple to do, just requires a lot of paperwork and visits to random places. As for the turbo kit, the voodoo kit works well if you want to stick with OEM ECU. The best part behind an Exocet in CA is that you are smog exempt. This means the world is your oyster! I wanted controll over spark tables and my fuel injection(among other things) so I decided to go with a standalone ECU like megasquirt. I will use all stock internals of my motor, and plan to do forced induction that will net me 220-260hp. The voodoo kit just uses a piggyback that will trick your OEM ECU into dumping a lot of fuel. You will run pig rich (which isn't a bad thing), you just won't maximize your turbo to what it's potential is.
