I am still planning. I now have Megasquirt up and running (very well I might add). I've already tapped my oil pan (just capped off). I have the injectors. Just need turbo, intercooler, manifold, downpipe. I am keeping my eye out on the open market for something used as well. Time will tell, but boost will happen this year. Just save your pennies for the FM kit. It's worth it. Actually I think they sell an Exocet specific version now. I found a local guy that has a KW Rotrex kit that I can get for pennies on the dollar. I'm >< close to pulling the trigger on that this weekend. Should net me 220-230hp, and have a very reliable setup.

There is a lot to like about a rotrex setup, especially in a light car. Power should be much easier to modulate than a typical turbo.

I had the FMII kit in my donor and it was a blast. Well built and easy to install, I can only imagine how awesome it will be in the exocet.
FYI you have to lift the engine to get the FMII header and turbo assembly on. There is about 1/2" less room than needed to get everything in. once it's in the clearance is similar to the stock miata.

I installed my entire kit without lifting the engine.....

Did you have an assembled turbo and header? Mine wouldn't clear the exhaust manifold bolts. The compressor hit the strut bracket.

No. I assembled it all myself.

Hey steadfast, I'm located in San Jose and have already found my donor. I got it for the purpose of turning it into an Exocet but I'm really enjoying the Miata experience itself. I'm debating keeping it just as a Miata for a year and doing some AutoX events / track days to learn how to really drive it before tearing it apart. Would it be possible to come by sometimes to check out your car ? Perhaps that will re lit that fire under by butt to tear it down.

Thanks for you input, always helpful, I'm not sure I can PM you (tried yesterday) as I am a newbie on this forum.
If the FM website if right, it should be pretty easy to upgrade the VooDoo kit down the road with better ECU and injectors if my finances permit, but looks like the VooDoo might be a fair price starting kit option.
I have read and learned a ton about the SB100, called the DMV and talked to 2-3 people, none of which knew much or could tell me relevant information. I called the BAR who told me it is a really easy process and you can virtually register anything, despite reading the opposite in a lot of forums. That is why I asked you how your experience was. I just read your post about your experience, helpful reminder, thanks. Despite some searches, it's been hard to have the correct answer on what to do with the donor VIN numbers but I like your plan of just keeping clear records of the sales and vehicle ownership.I am surprised that you can sign the title over for the body when you keep the heart of the car, I think I would feel more comfortable keeping the junk slip.

Let me know if you already sent me the additional SB100 info as I have not received the email or mistakenly deleted the email.
Also I have been reading a bit more on it and several people struggle without wiper and safety glass, I hope that I will be as lucky as you as I have not clue how I would be able to add wipers to this car. My buddy with an Atom which is the only other person I know who did the SB100 does have wipers and all proper lighting.

The only thing my BAR cared about was a PCV. Where are you located?
