I went and traded my Exocet for a Bentley today. I think I made the right choice:

Looks great! I may have to borrow that idea and do some marching seat inserts. Step one; complete my build..

Wow .... VERY nice! I'm curious what the 'button' is on the lower part of your steering wheel?

If I were to wager a guess, it would be a remote for the stereo?

The button is for the NOS! JK, it is for the stereo. It is removable.

I need to bring you guys up to speed. Good news, I am adding more power. Bad news, the current engine is toast. The thermostat was shot, causing the engine to overhead (despite what my gauge cluster said). Megasquirt pointed to the fact that the temps were very high, started to diagnose and found the thermostat was bad. Not sure how long it has been like this, or if it is a donor issue but... Top line is compression, bottom is cyl number, and middle are the dark as night plugs: So now I'm in-between a rock and a hard place. Here are the three options that I'm considering. 1) Replace with used motor from ebay, get up and running and FMII no electronics turbo shortly there after cost: $5-6k hp: 220-240 +: best bang for buck for hp -: not a set and forget setup 2) Replace with new 2.0 10.5:1 Wammy Motor from 949 cost:$5k hp: 160-170 +: set and forget, nice reliable n/a hp, and new motor -: not huge hp 3) Kmiata likely a K20A2 or K24A2 cost: $8-9K hp: 200-230 +: interesting n/a hp, different, reliable -: the most expensive option, would likely take the longest amount of time The Exocet itself is really just for bombing around the canyons, and my have fun car. It may see a track day or two, but that isn't the reason for the car. What say you?

If it were me I would go for the Ebay motor and turbo. When I started clicking buttons on the whammy motor options it was over 7 grand for a reasonable build and can go over 11 grand. The Kmiata option looks like a ton of work and money. The FMII turbo is tried and true and the most HP for the least amount of money. (and it works with the MegaSquirt you already have.)

I'm having a hard time finding a reasonably low mile 99-00 motor from a reputable place...

Just bought one, the BP-5A JDM version from JDM Engine Zone, which got great reviews online. Time will tell. It came with a 6 speed tranny. I will be selling that shortly after getting it in house. Will be replacing the timing belt and should be back up and running quickly!

1500, but came with a 6 speed tranny, figure that is worth $500-$600, says it has 40-50k miles. Looked really clean from the pictures.

That seems like a pretty decent deal to me. I think that 6 speed is worth $600 all day long.
