When I put my holeshots on the front it seemed like there was a little friction between the caliper and the rim so I put a 3mm spacer on the fronts. Maybe the holeshots are not the best wheel to use with the little big brake kit. They rubbed with the stock wheels too. Thought maybe my rotor hats were too thin or something. Geoff, for some reason I thought you had this brake kit too. I was going to shoot Keith a message tomorrow. Just curious who else experienced this or if maybe I missed something.

Please keep us up to date, as I would like to order this kit sometime soon.

To do's this weekend are:
Install megasquirt and get it up and running, I'm so tired of getting check engine lights for everything that I'm missing! That and it will give me a chance to learn to tune before I turbo
Install tophat spacers. They should be in on Saturday, and I'm looking forward to no longer being a road squeegee
Learn to sew and create some panels to spruce up the interior a little.
Give Exocet rides and showings. This will be the 4th showing I've given this week. We now have 4 exocets in the bay area (that I know of). Two more orders have been placed on top of that here recently. With a few more coming soon. I'll be billing Kevin shortly!!!!
Side note: for those in the Bay Area, I'm more than happy to show, give rides, and walk you through the SB100 process for getting the Exocet road legal. I'm located in Campbell, CA and can best be reached at on here or by email (geoffimlach@gmail.com).

Thanks for giving rides! It gives me the fuzzies to know the love is being shared.

Geoff - I believe you're running the single unit Dominator headlights from Exomotive. If correct, are those priced per pair, or individually from your recollection? I see they are $75, but not sure if this is each one or each pair.
Also, are you satisfied with their output for 'occasional night driving' in urban areas? I'm not planning on any regular nighttime excursions but one never knows!
Thanks in advance,
John

John, here is how I see it:
Pros: small in size, has low/high/parking beam all in one, is E (and I think SAE) stamped for inspection, pretty easy to wire up
Cons: light output is terrible on low beam, high beam is about the equivalent of new off the lot car's low beams
$75 is the price per dominator, I am satisfied with the headlights only if using the high beam setting. I would say for urban settings they would work just fine. If trying to use them in a rural setting, I'd look elsewhere

Thank you, sir. Personally, I like the look of the single Dominators. Maybe a 'quick release' (removed for track days) set of driving lights set in the grill opening, like I have seen elsewhere, (Mr. JIDiesel!) might be in order for street use.

It would make quite a diffidence with the light output. Look at something like the Osram/ Sylvania silver star bulbs. They have 30% or more light output than stock.

Got the spacers today, and the install was fairly simple with one exception. The rears required some extra attention because the bolts were too long. The front: Super easy, and self explanatory. I installed the spacers to the tophats first, because I saw no way to easily tighten down the spacer/tophat once it was on the car. I installed the tophat into the furthest outward hole of the spacer. This essentially centers the coilover in the hole of the A-arm. The rear: I had to cut the tips off of the tophat bolts, and cut about and 1/8 inch off the bolts provided by Exomotive. There was no possible way to insert the Exomotive bolts into the rear spacers without cutting. Step 1: Cut tips off tophats Step 2: Cut 1/8 off Exomotive bolts (thread a bolt on first before you cut so you can prevent cross threading later) Step 3: Insert Exomotive bolts first into the spacers, bolt facing up Step 4: Install the spacer to the tophat Step 5: Install assembly (coilover/tophap/tophat spacer) into the car Step 6: Install the exomotive bolts to the Exocet frame All in all it was pretty easy. I now have 5.5 inches of clearance. And my A arms are at a normal level. My coilovers are now at a normal ride height. It takes bumps much better, and I can clear the speed bump in my neighborhood. Life is good! I must get a new alightment as my camber is way off now.

Just wanted to thank Geoff for taking the time to show me his creation. Really great guy I can't express how much I appreciate him sharing his insights. Other Bay Area owners beware: Geoff is scheduling you as work crews on future builds he is quoting the cost of beer and pizza!
My impressions: Feels like a really light Miata....which is AWESOME! I was concerned till seeing it and riding in it that it would not have the quality feel of a production car. Wrong. The thing is rock solid. Feels really fast. Geoff was responsible enough not to take me on a death ride to show me how fast it really is which I appreciate but I certainly got the flavor. (He is also being careful till he gets the alignment after the top hats. Geoff is very encouraging regarding the ease of the build. Describing it as like Legos which is great.
For head clearance reasons I might need to go with the race frame which is strange as height wise -Geoff and I are within about an inch of each other. (I'll post a pic) I am anxiously watching others figuring out better lighting solutions. On Geoff's suggestion would go with the welded in floors. I really like the sound from Geoff's exhaust....it sounds angry and is a great sound at full throttle that said.
My one hesitation with ordering...I drove home and my Boxster S engine just makes better noises. I also am quite aware that the new water pump and oil change on the Porsche just cost me $1,600 which is stupid....So my head tells me that a Miata based car is by far the most bang for the buck. Of course I could fix the sound issue with a V8 ;-) but that could be $10-15k more....Again THANK YOU for taking the time. Much appreciated. Very cool toy!

I played around with the fabric this weekend. My wife's sewing machine doesn't have enough grunt to sew through pleather and foam and edging. So while I was getting my alignment done I walked over to an upholstery shop to see what he thought. For $100 he will sew the edging on and install the female snaps into the panels I want made, and have it installed onto the car. All I need to do is pop rivet the male part of the snaps where I want them. "Deal," I said. I have an appointment on Wednesday to drop the Exo off. Pictures to follow on Wednesday.

I was in town for my wedding celebrations with my wifes family and as luck would have it, Geoff lives close by. Geoff, you invited me into your home and showed me your car. It was spot on. Better than i thought it was. I appreciate you taking my Wife and i out for a spin around your neighborhood. Like i told you before, when you're back in Ft. Lauderdale. Come on by. Open door here for you. Thanks for posting up on the spacers. That is my next step. That and seats which you also opened my mind on how comfortable the seats can actually be.
