Neat idea. Back in 2002, when the mini-ITX craze started, I wanted to build a carputer that would do that sort of thing. And play those mp3's I just got from napster! Let us know how your idea develops. The greatest challenge is probably going to be getting a screen you can read well in sunlight.

So I spent the weekend in South Carolina, and on Saturday I went to Carolina Adventure World. There were so many ATV's there as well as Polaris Rzr's. I spent some time looking at a few of them and noticed this thing called Wet Sound Stealth Bar: They are mounted like this: Now let me preface this by saying I've had a few too many drinks tonight, and did a bad thing. I ordered the smaller version of it: So for $539 bones (yes this is dumb money for something like this), you get a weatherproof speaker set that already has an amp built in, and bluetooth. To hook it up you connect it to power and ground. It gets awesome reviews. I'm pretty pumped to try it out.

Can't be any worse than motorcycle cruisers blaring tunes.
I was thinking of something like this, since any drive of appreciable length will require a helmet.

Got a new mic setup for the gopro. Tested it out quickly around the block. Gives a good idea of what the exhaust sounds like, as the mic was mounted near the exhaust.

Do you have a brake pad rubbing or am I hearing things? I think you are right. You can't hear it when driving, but with the mic on the rear it picks it up. I'm thinking it is either the spring clip (looks like a M) that holds the pads apart, or the parking brake is too tight. . . I will investigate tomorrow.

Got my soundbar in. This thing is awesome. Built like a tank, and sounds great! It fits great right behind the seats:

That looks great. is that the 6 or the 10 model? Also did you mount it upside down?

6 model, and I mounted it upside down because the plug for the wires is now directly over my battery. It took 20 minutes to mount and wire.

I seem to be having the same problem hooking up my steering as you did. I want to clarify how you dealt with it. From your picture, it looks like the intermediate shaft, not the steering column, was too short. Did you just need to replace the intermediate shaft (in front of firewall connecting to the rack) or the column (from firewall to steering wheel) as well. My column measures within specs, but I can't find a reference for the correct length of the intermediate shaft. Thanks in advance. You have an awesome build!

I bought the whole thing (intermediate and column) as it was very cost effective solution (I think it was less than $75 on ebay). I then measured the length of each section and used the longer of the two. It worked well and was an easy solution.

The shaft that slides in the steering rack is collapsible. There's two plastic tabs inside of it which are designed to give way in an accident. They snap back into place with a little bit of effort.
I found out I accidentally pushed mine in half an inch when I removed it....
