Be careful with the minimum height from the Ground with the indicators. I started off with mine mounted there and once i put the car on its wheels properly the bottom of the indicator was just under the minimum height. I asked my inspector if they would of passed if i had left them there out of interest and he did say no as they have to measure from the closest/furthest light emitting surface.

First post of the New Year and first update in over a month! Hope you all had a good festive period!

Anyway updates since November, Exhaust manifold and down pipe fitted just waiting on a new stud as they are a different thread to standard and the bolt supplied contacts the sensor housing on manifold (pic explains)




I've ordered enough studs to do all joins so those bolts will be gone.

Finally all 8 wishbones attached and secured with bolts that fit and tighten with rose joints that are covered with rubber boots.







Xmas presents include the exhaust, set of good ridge stainless brake hoses and a roll of brake pipe with a variety of connectors.

Finally taken my brave pills and made the decision on which coilovers to purchase. I had order the HSD dualtechs for £505 from drift works. I was tempted by the more expensive monotubes (the green would of looked great) but couldn't justify the extra £200 for the colour!

Remember it's measure a million times buy the right bolts once!

Coilovers have arrived, they look fantastic! Will post pic when they're attached which won't be until I buy the right bolts! Which if I had original wishbones wouldn't be an issue! Oh well it'll come together some day!

Was hoping to get the chassis on the subframes by the end of the weekend but with this delay with bolts and me being away Friday and Saturday at autoshow it's looking less and less likely! Oh well there's always next week!

Very nice. How do you intend to cover the top of the rear shocks from an IVA sharp edge point of view. These look to have a quite an extension from the top of the shock?

You're right the rear does have a lot of exposed sharpness! Honest I've not decided how to cover this! I may make a cover that bolts on to the two top mount and covers the lot, rather then trying to cap it, because I'll need access to change dampening settings

little tip mate i got from hngs on here put the chassis over engine ppf rear subframe etc,leave shocks out, then fit afterwards,I found I had like others had to add small spacers on the rear as tubes on chassis were pulling up against holes in rear subframe,I fittted my chassis bolted up in about an hour,and shocks bolted straight in!!!!saves you fighting against thse lovely shocks!!!!!!.

quick question mate, your exhaust manifold that you fitted, are you using a cat on it?as have the same but sold std system,sourced another now!!!

Yeah good point on putting the chassis on, I remember when I picked my kit up from mev the chassis was sat on subframes to test fit everything and the shocks took a few knocks when lifting it off!

Yeah I will be putting the original cat and rear section back on what I've got already until Iva's then I'll get a custom job I think

Shaun.. Are you sure that is the spring rates?? 9kg/mm= 504lbs..6kg/mm= 336lbs. Those are really stiff they are about 3 times more then an OEM MX5 spring.. You are going to have a very hard 2x4 up the butt ride.. Don't forget you have dropped 1/3 of the weight of the MX5.. I would go 200lbs less in front and 100 lbs less on rear springs.. see if you can exchange the one you have..

I was having a look at these and have only seen the one supplier in the UK.

The quoted spring rate on the website is definitely 9kg/mm front and 6kg/mm rear.

This would make the standard MX5 track use only, heaven knows what it would be like in an Exocet. Might give them a ring and see if the springs can be changed to something softer.
