Shouldn't be a suprise by now. Been on the Eco forum too long already Had to finished some uncompleted busines first. The tR1ke I build had it's approval yesterday and soon to be picked up at RTR. In the meantime I had several side tracks which needed to be dealt with as well. Having a daily comutter, 4 bikes and a tR1ke is too much. Sold my Ducati TT2 racer, trying to sell a TW125 and 2 days ago I managed to swap a '93Monster900 for a spanish 2005 An400 (7000miles) . The monster is in exelent condition but having made in large numbers thus unable to sell. remarkably these engines have identical frame mounting positions from '86- to 2005 or so. Makes me wonder why this engine is not in favour for kitcar builders. a 600ss up to 916 engine or more recent would not be an issue. the Supersport bikes are sold for pocket change lately. hanving the swingarm mounted in the engine cases is a great feature as well. Having a 4yrs old and girlfriend made me doubt quite some time how to deal with this to fit in the tR1ke and there is simply no way for the 3 of us in this car. Having my girlfriend in the driversseat with 148hp makes me wonder if this is the best choice (no offence) so swapping the M900 for An400 ,building an Eco-exo-R makes sense to have fun with the 3 of us. she having no motorbike driving licence is the thing what triggered me to ruin the An400. yes this is a lame excuse to build an other trike but she is happy too removing the fairings (scratched and dent all around) showed quite some rust. The parts I need are in exellent shape tough!

As far as I can see this engine is the same as Edward his donor and he reported no issues mounting the injection version in the chasis. I do hope the original tank will fit in the rear bonnet. I think this might be no issue because the injector is located sideways and not facing upwards as in more recent models. Because the tR1ke needs to be picked up at RTR in short time notice I pulled thr trigger sooner as intended to remove the engine and tank today. If in doubt i could bring the engine to RTR if bracket adjustments are needed for 2005 model. Not sure if this is needed for this moment. Any input is highly appreciated. This morning I ordered an Eco-Exo-R kit. I was in doubt to order the early version because there is space for a passenger too. I opted for a recumbend bicycle style steering. The injector facing through the bulkhead cancelled out the passenger seat and space restrictions for alternatives mad me chose for the R version. However, i do intend to make a luggage box behind the drivers seat having enough volume for 2-3 days trips. more news later. br, Erik

Hi Erik
It is great you you got a Eco-Exo-R kit. I will be glad to help where I can. I am in the process of welding all my tabs on and getting everything to fit with the front radiator mounting and bonnet.
The gas tank will not fit and needs to be modified or a new one made. My injector is located the same way and the 2005 gas tank is larger than the older models.
The way you built your Tr1ke you will have no problem making it all work.
Let me know what I can do to help.
Also Roger has an 2007 model and he has been a great help to me.

Thx in advance for your help! Spend most of the day arranging transport for the tR1ke. No time to fill in the invoice for Scott. should be fine in short time notice. Delivery time would be a bit longer as usual but that is not an issue. I have all winter to build

Hi, A few problems did occur. I managed to find a seat. This was rather nerve wrecking because karts seats are a tad too narrow for my hip bone width. only the smaller breed seem to be able to enjoy driving kart. After visiting several kart shops testinf different brands with no luck I remembered the Kreidler street legal kart. I ordered a Kreidler seat and rails. This one is specifically designed for street legal karts which I hope is spot on for me because it is an universal seat and a straight bolt on to their rails. It was designed for a 2point seatbelt but 3-4points should be no problem as well. Hope to receive this seat and rails soon. www.kitcarcollection.com/used-cars/kreidlerkart.phpA real headache is to find the extra front wheel. been sourcing Dutch, German and UK ebay for several days now. I am only able to source identical spindle, rim and caliper and not the spindle spacer, brake disc+bolts and speedo sensor. I fear every part needs to be sourced serperately. Especially the brake disk bolts and speedo sensor are unobtainable and I fear I need to buy this new at a suzuki dealer. Not too happy about this. The AN400 has been disassembled now. Engine number is K429-****. I recon this is a K4 engine. seems to be a rare version on ebay. I'll do some paperwork today for cancelling the chasis number and bin the frame. Tried to make the deposit with no luck. Just a minor detail which is prio#1 now. An other pita is I cannot make up my mind for the GRP colors . I think i have found a sheme I like but need to soource the RAL code first BUT the local painter is on holiday. grtz! Erik

I noticed kreidler has a nice accesoirie range for their street legal karts. it is worth to take a browse through their webshop. I think several items may be very usefull for the Exo as well.

Seat and rails came in. Universal fit I couldn't ask for more. The cover isn't 100% perfect but for 60 euro I shouldn't complain. I may reconsider to recover the seat in a different color. Black isn't what I had in mind for a color sheme.

Hi Erik
It looks like you are off to a good start. I am in the process of making and welding all the tabs I need for my build. It seems I keep finding a better solution as the weeks go by and end up redoing what I just did to reflect that change. Keep posting on your progress as I enjoy reading what you are doing.

Hi Edward! Making tabs is all part of the fun! On my tR1ke i did use many "extended nuts" spot welded on the chasis which saved me a considerable amount of time making brackets. I only needed to remove/replace a few of them which was a breeze. Looks very industrial I didn't have to redo a lot. I guess the 16 weeks delivery time was food for thoughts LOL!! The only thing I'd do differently is to finish the loom before powder coating the chasis. i needed to be too creative to add 6 solenoids Under the bonnet which I could have done better if I had decent attachement points. For the Exo, 10 weeks delivery time for me and that's fine. I need to figure out the color sheme and accesoiries. Last year I purshased a lot of accesoiries one at a time and now I'll buy them all at once to reduce S+H costs. This thread will be boring for the time being hehe. I finished cleaning the donor parts. Need to find me a tacho sensor and a fuel spill rubber to complete all donor parts. Need to clean up the garage when weather permits. Engine went to the bike mechanic to make her top notch. grtz! Erik

What no stereo and GPS I got a set of these but they were pricey! They mount on the top side tube as my hood can be removed in a matter of seconds. APR Universal Formula GT3 Mirrors APR_CB-100004B_01 by evanbelkom, on Flickr

hehe, no stereo for me, I've got enough voices in my head already Perhaps an arm rest case in front of the seat might be usefull later. Those mirrors are nice! I haven't decided wether to chose for chrome or black depending on the blue on the steering wheel. For light blue (my favourite setting) I like chrome more. Same thing for the light and indicators. I am not an easy guy with color shemes. My tr1ke took me about 7 months to find out what was pleasing for me. Because of my doubts I made a poor drawing of the Exo-r to fill in the colors with pencil. Very low tech but somehow I enjoyed doing this and showed them to several friends to see what they liked best. The colors I had in mind was in favour by all of them, but the details in accesoiries was the most difficult part. for this moment I like light blue GRP parts, orange chasis and chrome lights/indicators/mirrors but may have to go for black if the blue is too dark. I saw Sabelt has blue and gray seatbelts which might be an other detail to deal with. free drawing included Attachments:

Yes getting the right shades can take awhile. I plan for closer to Ferrari Red for my fenders and GRP panels.I will use gloss black for the frame. The headlights and stop lights will be chrome and I will be using black chrome for the front grill. The mirrors and top of the bonnet fairing will be carbon fiber that will be clearcoated.
Can you show me the tint of the colors you are thinking about?
Nice drawing. I can use that. That car must have some top end to outrun that plane!

You'll have a nice bouquet of colors on your version. I think an chasis olive green and mirrors red looks timeless too. See this example: www.snariad.ru/wp-content/gallery/yak-15/yak-15_3.jpg (the green/red rocket on top of this site looks nice too for exo sheme) There are many nice colorshemes to find everywhere. near all products have been designed by professionals to increase sales and very helpfull to find a nice match. Even a shampoo bottle can have great matching colors to copy. I did even have a peek at Bugattis for great 2-tone examples. If you have a peek in my tR1ke thread you can see I got inspired by a maroon/yellow Alfa Romeo race car. The sketch I made was from the pic below. Very crude but helpfull. the pencilled sketch looks a tad better in real life but the camera is a cheapo. In this pic the accesoiries are white(chrome). The light blue and orange reminds me of the Gulf shemes but I don't want to use orange in the GRP panels and think reversing the colors is a much better option now. Took me a week to find out the original gulf sheme isn't what I was looking for. Mainly because light blue chasis is hard to clean I am still reconsidering black tough to reduce number of colors to orange, blue and black. Most hardware is black by origin which is not too bad I guess. As always, any input is highly appreciated. I might reconsider those mirrors too and have them painted orange. The shape resembless the nose of the Exo. Not bad at all!! br! Erik Attachments:
