As we picked our chassis up together, it would be nice if we could IVA as the same time. Started the strip down on mine, bit more welding then powder coating time.

That would be nice to IVA together but I fear you would have to wait some time for me to catch up… You could alway come down to mine and help once you have finished your own.. You expertise and knowledge learnt would be invaluable.. and it would be nice to go out for a blast as a passenger in your Exocet.

Agreed. But may call on your IVA knowledge before hand.

As promised earlier, this is the new rear cover that was recently pulled out of the mould. It still needs to have the joint lines rubbed back and a final polish but other than that it's done. All the sides and top have been reinforced with a core matting so it is very strong and ridged. The plan later is to fit a spoiler on it to give the back end more height. There is no flex in the top or sides of this cover at all. It also has a 2 inch lip on the bottom which you can see in the last photo. This is to help give the sides rigidity but also mean I can secure it so that the bolds are not visible. The spoiler I plan to use is this one as the brackets should line us exactly in line with the two circle high level lights that will be fitted. This is the lip on the bottom that I mentioned above. I'll use this to bold it down to the car.

Been doing a bit more fabricating. One thing I struggled to work out was how to fit the passenger side bulkhead panel to the outside front corner post whilst making it look nice. my solution was to make this bracket to give me a flat surface to bolt the panel to. I will weld it in one i remove the chassis prior to powder coating. The other thing that was going over in my mind was the two font sections that I had planned to cover with perforated steel sheeting. Bearing in mind we get a little rain in the UK and the roads are often wet I had change of heart and decided to go for solid panels. Again I will weld these in one I remove the chassis as it will be so much easier. and one from the inside. This should mean that my electric around the dash are protected from any rain etc as much as they possibly can be. These were initially made with card templates along with the ones for the centre console panels. I still had a little filling etc but it makes life so much easier. The console is starting to take shape now.

Chris top marks for your fabrication. I have gone down the tab route on my side infill panels. The simple reason is I can change them if necessary. Carbon, stainless or even perforated. And yes your right, I have got your Ali sheet !!! Seams only right that we swap to keep each of our cars totally original. The only problem is your sheet looks a bit on the small size? Hope it fits. LOL

jgilbert - I'll tell you what John if you can give me the ones you have cut out as well then I'll give you your floor panel.. if not i'll keep yours and you can keep mine .. that way are cars will always have a connection to each other. Finally picked up the tank cover this morning and set about fitting it. It's not bolted down yet but it really changes the rear end look of the Exocet.. Mr Mills hope you like what I have done as its not that much different to the beat up cover that I got from you when I collected my kit last year. It's just a lot wider and with no hole in the top.

Gets my vote both the floor pan and your Roadster styled cover.
Hard from the photos the gauge the new width, but I like the overall effect. Good work.

With my Dash and rear tank cover finally finished I decided I needed a bit of motivation as all this fabrication is taking quite a lot of my time. I have still got such a long way to go So yesterday I got all the panels out of the garage loft and fitted them to the car to give me an idea what the finished product would look like. This is it……… Not sure about the wheels though!!! This is why I intend to fit solid panels in the first two openings… The electrics on the rear of the dash will be better protected from the elements.. In one of the photos above you may have noticed a raised vent on the rear tank cover … I'm toying with the idea of adding this just for a bit of extra styling.. It won't serve any other purpose.. any comments or views? I still fully intend on adding the rear spoiler once the car is finished. Without the vent.. And with the vent... And finally one photo of the wheels that will be fitted… As mentioned earlier in my threat they are ET15 so I don't need wheel spacers. Just need some tyres but that will have to wait .
