I assume your going to grommet the fuel pipe holes you drilled?? Yep, done. You can see them on the cabin side of the bulkhead. The heat shield, mat obscures the view of them on the engine side.

I really appreciate the safety checks, especially as this is not my profession. Thank you. Well, I was aiming for last November. Oops, missed that date in a big way It feels like I should be able to finish within months given an hour or two after work and some long weekends. I think my 1 year old has other plans though

Why exactly did you need to put the thermostat here? Do I need to do something similar? Should I also block of my the other side of the housing like you did? Thanks Brian Another small job: Thermostat housing removed and drilled (13mm) Ford coolant temp sensor Sensor fitted

Thanks Brian Another small job: Thermostat housing removed and drilled (13mm) Ford coolant temp sensor Sensor fitted Bought the omex 600 ecu and this is what they recommended re. the thermostat feeding the ecu (as per their turn key engines). If a direct feed to the dash, people have done other things too, like a tee in the cooling pipe (e.g bob's build if I remember correctly). Re. blanking the othe pipe, this seems to be the most common solution. There is a thread on the cooling setup in the tech section. There are basically a couple of recommended solutions depending on your specific setup.

That probably is a good position for the coolant sensor,BUT , by the time you've put the thermostat housing back on and connected the hoses then filled with coolant, it is not a very good place to discover a slow leak.
Can you even get to it when the bulkheads are on and wiring and hoses are fitted.
I've just had a look at mine and I struggle to even see that fitting.

I agree with Ned, I cannot even get a good photo of mine.
Also mine does have a slow leak !
Not enough drama to be bothered moving it but I think a position of easy access would be a good choice.

If you have a slow leak now, when the car/engine is running and the coolant gets up to temp then the slow leak becomes something more.
A slow leak at my radiator is what pushed me to change it. I noticed a small puddle of coolant under the rad, my expansion bottle level was always dropping and I had to bleed the system on a regular basis, never mind the constant checking of coolant levels on anything other than a short journey.
It takes away the enjoyment of a drive-out of you always have one eye on the temp.
Don't mean to sound all doom and gloom but this is all from experience, I won't bother telling how much grief I had with re-fitting the thermostat housing after fitting my coolant sensor, leaked for weeks. A right PITA.
