Spent 4 hours today cleaning up the subframes. The rear was deffo a good wee bit rustier. I am goin to use that POR15 and it says it goes on better on a slighty rusty surface so did not buff to a shiny finish

Wee update got the subframes painted with por15. Fantastic paint apart from the fact i have a big blob on my elbow and cant get it off. The hammerite smooth silver is also superb paint which i used for the diff Then i got annoyed spending so much time on the exocet that my mx5 was in a bit of a state especially the arches With a bit of effort the arches came up great and plenty of autogylm vinyl and rubber. Alloys cleaned and sealed and some of the silver hammerite around the top of the hub and the brake cover plate. Am shattered off to bed

Well a few bit arrived today. New timing belt kit, water pump, cat bypass etc. Hopefully get the belts done tomorrow if i get a chance as they changed the mot rules here in norhern ireland so any car after 2002 must have a cat. Unfortunately i removed them both from my subaru so have to put them back on. complete pain especially on the one that connects to the turbo. Anyway back to the exocet sent my deposit and next week will soon start getting these bits back to a complete rolling chassis. The shocks are about the last things to need a paint up Calipers dangling from the shed roof

Took a half day and fitted a new cam belt, tensioner, idler, spring and water pump. So much easier doing this when your engine is out of the car. I also inspected the cam shaft seals and they were not leaking so left them alone.

Looking great so far! What paint did you use for the gold? Was it engine paint?
