Like Venom I did not like the paint of my steering column covers. But I also found out two items: 1. Hammerite is not available in satin black. Hammerite black is glossy black only. 2. Hammerite cannot be painted over by an other paint. So I have removed all old paint, cleaned the thing and repainted the covers with satin mat paint. Before, covers with old paint: High tech paint cabin: In between result: Close up:

While painting the steering column covers, I also painted the air filter housing.

I cut the seat belts to size, because the straps were about 1 meter too long. Melted the edges smooth with a small gas burner.

Today had a nice spin around in my tR1ke.
When fueling the tR1ke I found out the fuel system had a reasonable over pressure.
I did not anticipate over pressure on the fuel system. Fuel is pumped out of the fuel tank into the engine to be burned, so the burned fuel has to be replaced by air. I expected a light under pressure but no over pressure.
Over pressure can be dangerous when a fuel line breaks somewhere in the system and spilled fuel catches fire.
What causes the over pressure? Any of you having the same experiences? Suggestions how to counter act this?

What were the symptoms of the "over pressure" ? I like the idea of your side covers too. I assume they'll keep some of the weather out ?

I What were the symptoms of the "over pressure" ? I like the idea of your side covers too. I assume they'll keep some of the weather out ? Fuel over pressure symptoms: Fuel tank was about empty, the first fuel pump was already making it's hammering noise. Needed some force to open the fuel cap. When opening a reasonable amount of fuel vapor came out. I have an air inlet valve but no over pressure valve. (yet...) I think when you are smoking and opened the fuel cap, your eye browns would have been gone. Side covers: I already have 2,5 mm clear polystyrol plates cut to size. All is designed to deflect the front wheel splash water. (the most of it) Will share the end result.

I used breather valves on my tanks which are always open exept sideways or thumbling over. When filling 1 tank I hear the opposite closed tank whisling air. Your valve is a one way system. only air gets in, no vapour is getting out.

Hi Edwin
It seems you have the same problem that I had, the one way valves have stuck shut on the tank vents. If you remove them from the tanks try and blow through them from both ends to see if they open ok. Mine needed a little oil to keep the flap valve from sticking. The more expensive type with a ball bearing and a spring is a better idea, it works the same way so the tank is not venting unless there is a negative pressure inside the tanks. Cheers Kevin

I understand / agree the two way valve.
What I would like to know is: What is causing the overpressure?
