So. We have an update from Curborough.
The event can still go ahead, with several stipulations. 1. No spectators 2. Only one person per car 3. Probably no facilities being available (toilets or food) 4. No camping the night before.
As far as I understand the cost is still the same for the hire, which means we would still need to have 20 people to attend at £50 to cover the cost of the hire. If only 15 come, we'd be making a loss which isn't good as it would have to come out of my pocket.
Thoughts?

I don't think you will get many takers as they are essentially saying only drivers can turn up. Looking back at previous years almost everyone had driven down with passengers who then spectated.
Hate to say it but might not be worth doing this year. You can always take payments in the next 2 weeks (have a cut off date) and then if you don't have enough drivers cancel and offer refunds.

Also, one per car......I would suspect that a significant number of the additional drivers are actually from the same household as the main driver. It might well be worth exploring what the stated restrictions might mean. Plus, as it stands, things are being eased.....rightly or wrongly.....and are likely to have changed again (one of 2 ways...) by 11/7. As Stuart says, I think looking positively is the right thing to do. Martin

If it goes ahead, count me in 1 driver plus 1 extra driver.
I'm not sure we ever really had spectators, all the folk I've meet there have been drivers or guests of drivers. Social distancing, should not be difficult to arrange, there is plenty of space.

We're still working on this as well as a back up plan so don't clear your diaries just yet. I'm in discussions with the circuit regarding camping (given the distance some have to travel) and passengers/spectators from the same household. Will keep you guys updated.

I'm still in conversation with the circuit but even as of Monday just gone, they're sticking to their guns and saying unless the government advice changes, the rules stay the same. In my view this means it won't be a viable option for this year's meeting as 10 people won't want to pay £100 to spend the day at a circuit with no atmosphere or facilities. Yes, the advice may change in the coming weeks, but given we're only 4 weeks away from the event it's too much of a last minute mess.
I've been in discussions with Adam at Complete Kit Car magazine about moving our event to their CKC Blyton day on Sunday 6th September. This is a little more expensive but it's a proper track not a small sprint circuit. We would have our own area in the paddock and if we have enough numbers, we may be able to get an exclusive MEV only session.
Would there be any interest in this?
