Hi Spud. Once I had sculpted the mahogany former with spoke shave, plane etc. I took it to a local fabricator (Ian at Quay Fabrications in Lancaster)who started with two blocks of aluminium and a small angle grinder. He literally roughed it out by hand, sanded to shape and then went through the grades to a polish. Drilled and tapped for a stud at either end. He's an artist but it shows once again that, with patience, good things are possible

Would love to come with DeBoRah but that time of the year will be impossible with work I'm afraid. We're going to Harrogate MG fest next weekend to turn some heads. The reaction to this car is a bit overwhelming

175 80s on the 14" 185 Mazda after-market wires. Fill the arches nicely and give a smooth ride. Thinner too so more authentic. High profile looks great. Big boots. Don't IVA with them on as speedo needs adjusting (a lot). Will show new seat upholstery and tonneau and will take some shots of the finished car to encourage yourself R2S and everyone else mid build.

Hi Paul and welcome. Nice to see another northern build. We're just up the road in Lancaster and we've just finished our Replicar and its on the road. It's REALLY worth the effort. I've never seen such a response to a car when you drive by. If you haven't already perhaps you should go through our build thread - DeBoRah - some of the suppliers will be quite local to you as well

Deflector in place and silicone around body sides and top. It won't stop everything but should take the worst of it. We also made some smaller ones for the back to stop ingress through the rear sills.

Not so much a wheel arch, as a 'deflector panel' made from 1mm ally.

Nearly forgot about this. About a year ago I bought an after-market MX5 handbrake sleeve to go with the gear knob. Better than the plastic cover we think and it suits our 'industrial' interior.

Headrest pad completed with some left-over black leather that the local upholsterer had. Just gave him a plywood former with two captive bolts glued into it and discussed piping etc.
Also note the dome bolts that we've used to blank off the seat headrest sockets.

Tractor badge I assume, Snowbird. eBay. Spent last Tuesday's session making some brackets. Great fun! Glad you like it as much as we do. This part of the build is so worth waiting for. Got age related reg last week so all good. Need some insurance now. Any recommendations for kit policies anyone?

Yes R2. I know you're going to paint yours the AST colour but I think we'll leave ours like this for now. Maybe later when we've saved up for a spray. It took many weeks of agonising to choose this colour and it was a risk but we like it.
