Have seen pictures of a race rocket online with extra side Impact protection. is this something I can spec from factory? i would also really like a full roll cage has anybody else added this?
what model year ST170 focus do I need as a donor?
i am pretty handy with most things but can't weld is this going to be an issue for building a kit?

There currently is no "factory" producing official or MEV approved Rocket kits in any form. Hopefully kpower will soon be rectifying this problem and I am sure he will then be able to offer you a race spec chassis and full roll cage if you wish to go that way. One mistake, made by others, which I am sure he won't repeat is a "race spec" chassis with a non spec roll bar, hard to believe that hapened but it did. Apart from kpower NO other supplier can offer you a new genuine Rocket chassis, however there are some who make claims but are not licensed to do so.

So what us it exo sports cars are selling? How does an SVE rocket vary from an MEV rocket?

MEV replaced the Rocket with Exocet. It is much easier to build, costs much less and scores a perfect 50/50 weight distribution with the average driver on board. Tune up depends on pocket depth, up to 450 bhp! The 2017 version looks even better than the race cars below. Kpower may well bring Rocket back at some point. He will tell us when he is ready. When he does MEV will evaluate his car with a view to approving it so owners can enjoy this forum. Evaluation will not take place until a completed road worthy car is available. Sadly due to past issues this forum does not support any other "Rocket" but MEV and this forum continue to offer full support to owners of all cars/kits made by the now defunct RTR.

So what us it exo sports cars are selling? How does an SVE rocket vary from an MEV rocket? Have you considered buying a part built Rocket kit? I'm sure there are a few out there where people just don't have time to build them.

what model year ST170 focus do I need as a donor? This one is easy, there was only ever one, from 2002 to 2004! This guy has collected a good lot of stuff on the differences www.fordst170.co.uk/index.phpmine is a 2002. There's no Haynes manual for it as such, but the Focus '98 - '04 one is worth getting a hold of anyway. As is the Ford wiring diagram which does cover it. i am pretty handy with most things but can't weld is this going to be an issue for building a kit? Make sure the place you're buying it from makes the engine mounts to suit the ST170 and getrag gearbox so, the standard mount positions mount suit and the engine won't fit. We have a few 'odd' additions that are great in the stock car, but make it tougher to build from. Returnless fuel system with Fuel Pump Driver Module; no regulator or fuel return to the tank, just a gizmo that tells the fuel pump to fire. Dual Stage inlet and Variable camshaft acuator. Changes fueliing and air pathways; great for stock components, but makes it challenging if you go chasing 200+ HP with mods. Dual mass flywheel; nice, but can't be 'lightened' Getrag gearbox and ST170 gear selector. We need a different gear selector to other builds; the good news is that the one we need is ten-a-penny (focus 1.8), bad news for me is I didn't realise this until after I'd collected quite a few gear selectors, including the very rare Mondeo MKII one. ST170-based builds are more daunting, but if you're not planning mods, you get top power for very little money. Plus, you'll get way more back in spare parts. I was up to over €1000 now before they changed the rules on editing old posts. Read the ST170 build threads, don't ignore the Sonic section, their wiring and engine notes are just as valid. These are some of the ones I bookmarked: mevowners.proboards.com/thread/3946/rocket-st159mevowners.proboards.com/thread/422/ades-st170-rocket-buildmevowners.proboards.com/thread/4680/ford-focus-svt-donormevowners.proboards.com/thread/1678/another-bites-dust-good-causemevowners.proboards.com/thread/5422/howards-st170-sonic-buildmevowners.proboards.com/thread/4978/frees-rocket-stmevowners.proboards.com/thread/8264/project-wraith-st170-powered-ekc0001
