I have really enjoyed wiring up all the lights and every thing is working even the rear fog so am delighted. My only problem is my rear fog is coming on with just the sidelights which I believe is an IVA fail. Also for the fog do you need a light on the dash to illuminate to tell you that its on.

My donor is a UK car so all my lights have been straight forward and work as they should for IVA The fog should only come on with dip beam and go off when you switch to side lights. There should also be an indication that the fog light is illuminated. My car has an illuminated sign on the dash when the fog is on. Hope this helps Chris PS I've just stolen this photo from Jgilbert as his donor is also a UK spec car. It shows the Fog sign on the dash.

Hi Trident my donar is a Jap import and I deffo dont have those bottom 2 lights in pic. When my hazards are one just my 2 indicators flash and for the fog I assume I will have to buy a fog light switch that illuminates when the fog is on

you need a common feed that powers main/dip beam for fog. If it is not a common wire the fog will go off when you change from dip to main but as you say the fog must not light with sides only. Try a probe on a meter in the cables from the stalk switch, from memory you need to splice in to the white/red then use a 5amp inline fuse, but check as models vary.

You also need the fog to stay off if you turn the headlights off then on again. My donor was an import so I just bought a 'fog light module' which is wired between headlights (dipped and main), fog light switch (included) and the fog light. It does all the electronic wizardry for me!!

This was the fog switch that was in my donar car with 4 wires coming from it.

This is Stuart's comment from the same question on 24 August: keep it simple guys. If you have a British spec donor then the fog light wiring is correct. If you have to wire one up on an import make sure it comes on with dip or main beam and not sides. No latching complications required or buzzers for IVA. Read more: mevowners.proboards.com/thread/5138/iva-changes-fog-light?page=2#ixzz3F1Q51EWxMy car passed IVA with the power taken from the headlight motor feed, an on/off switch with a fog light symbol and a warning light - no power drop relay needed.

This is obviously a situation where different IVA testers are failing different things as I've heard of people failing if the fog light does not reset, hence the reason I bought the above item.

OK, from the IVA manual:
It's that last one which is the pig...

OK, from the IVA manual: It's that last one which is the pig... So you either need the fog to turn itself off or give an audible warning. To me getting this module is a quick easy solution which I'm happy to pay for!

Yup.
The only other way around it (that I can think of) would be to de-wire from the stalk and instead use a rotate & pull switch (like the ford focus, amoungst others)?
Question - the switch in the ebay advert looks like a regular rocker one... does that mean you have to switch it off then on again to get it to operate? would it/could it work with a momentary switch?

I hate this stuff.... here's an email someone got back from VOSA when challenging the wording dated 10 May 2014 (so many, many months after the last manual updated).
If I read that right.. they are saying that Note 4 are other, optional, options - but the requirement is unchanged.
They want it to be read like this:
But that's not how it's written, and the manual still hasn't been updated! Sod it, I'm going to bloody email them; get it from the horses mouth.
