Thanks for the offer, bit too much in the way of work/family commitments at the moment, but definitely in the future.

I am just about to send off everything off to the DVLA, and could do with some advice regarding the engine number.
Does anyone know if an engine number is required for registration?
My engine block was new and as such had no number, this was perfectly acceptable for the IVA but I am concerned it might be an issue for the registration.
Any advice from guys with new engines would be much appreciated.

Just got back from the DVLA, turns out an engine number is not required......all the paperwork is now in, now even more gagging than before!

Hi guys, I am after a bit of Radiator advice...
I have a standard single core focus rad at the moment and it's not quite up to the 2ltr engine. It's all getting a bit toasty.
Does anyone know of a decent dual core rad that fits nicely into a rocket?

Hi,
Is this a problem when stationary? Otherwise a floor under the front and blocking the sides around the rad will definitely be good for the airflow through the radiator. Not my own idea but it makes sense and has helped others.

Hi Marc, Im running the same engine and the 1.6 RAD with a 12" REVOTEC PULL fan manages to keep the temps between 95c - 101c... and thats with the current weather and spirited driving. Seems about normal what is yours running at?: www.mevowners.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cooling&action=display&thread=1577The ECU controlled FAN has to go though as its constantly coming on and take ages for it to turn off (does not go off when the temp drops) Ade

Thanks guys,
The water temp got to about 110 and the oil to about 115 after driving at a normal speed which strikes me as a bit high.
No sign of a blowoff though and it's running sweet, I just don't know what's high!

Yeah normal driving in mine gets to about 98 never goes over that on a normal outing, (depends if normal is 6000RPM ) How have you plumbed you pipes in? have you capped the rear bypass off? Ade

If i remeber correctly my cooling fan is set at 105 deg c and a normal engine generally runs at 90-95 deg c although I am aware that the Zetec and Duratec tend to run a little hotter. I have got some good quality motorsport oil that Northampton Motorsport supplied and have been told that it will run up to 120 deg c but should not go much further than that.
Normal running on mine tends to sit a 80- 85 deg c at 70 mph. Stationary, I have seen the temp get to 107 for water and 103 for the oil last weekend on way back from Curborough

Well this is embarrassing.....electric water pump on the wrong way round!!
Pretty good cooling for a system running backwards!
I'm a muppet
Thanks for all the info, it's good to know what temperatures other people are running at.
