Just a quick question, will the seat base/runners from the focus fit in the rocket. It would save me some money if I could keep them and leave my options open for seat choice.
Also thinking of haveing the original wheels refurbished in a charcoal/Anthracite colour. Will cost about £200. Anyone else kept the original wheels and will they fit.

Not much happening at the moment, just going thru the torture of selling stuff on ebay. If I was doing this again I would really consider just buying everything individually. Anyway got my Gearbox back, rebuilt with new everything and a nice paint job just to finish it off. Basically it's new, and I have a receit to prove it. . Bits I've sold so far have paid for this. I've just about got back what I paid for the focus plus another 46 items left to sell. Cheers.

Hi ned,
Can I be rude and ask how much it cost you approx to get your gearbox reconditioned? I picked one up at the weekend from a scrappy and will be doing the same but would be great to get a heads up on financial damage.
Cheers

We pay a local company between £100-200 a box trade price.

Well that's all my ebay auctions comming to an end, still got some bits left but I'm all ebay'd out. £480 for the donor car and over £600 back so not to bad. Not as good as Tim and Josephs MX5 exploits but there are just too many Focus cars out there and I was getting hacked off with all the trips to the post office.
So basically got the following for free -
Drive shafts Wiring Loom Catalytic converter. Steering Rack. Fuel pump and sender. Gear cables. Accelerator cable. Hand Brake lever. Cooling Expansion Tank. Brake fluid Res. 4x original wheels (to get Refurb)
Bought the following with cash brought in from sales.
Quick shift kit and Accelerator pedal from "The Joker" 2x New Front Hubs with bearing kit. New IB5 Gearbox. New radiator and Fan. All bolts and fixings. Brake line Kit. Focus Rear calipers.
Still got the 1.8 engine to get rid of but I'll worry about that when my kit turns up.

Well got the phone call from RTR, kit should be ready for collection this week.
Bolts, rivets, nuts and washers all arrived yesterday. New hubs and bearings ready to go. So hoping to make some progress over the next couple of weeks.
I need some advice on alloy wheels, I was originally going to use the ford focus wheels but have been given the chance to buy some peugeot 17inch wheels. They are 4 stud alloys, just need to know what sort of offset and spacers I would need to fit them.
Hopefully have some interesting pics to post over the next few weeks

Well it's finally here, after a 650 mile round trip and nearly 12 hours sitting in a van my rocket kit is finally sitting in it's new home.
Hopefully have some interesting pics from now on.

Finally got a chance to get started, had the kit 2 weeks now so not much done here are a few pics of progress anyway. Lets get the usual floor shots out the way first. The Before Shot !. . The After Shot !. . Stuck some carbon vinyl on before the floor was fixed on. . . Then decided to tackle the suspension, Bushes First. Put a small radius on the bushes before fitting, just used a Stanley knife then smoothed off with a fine file. . Then just used a vice to push them in, surprised how easy it was. . . So all suspension parts now has bushes fitted, I had read before that fitting the crush tubes was a bit harder. I managed to get these parts fitted with crush tubes. . I couldn't do anymore as I was at breaking point, the missus came running into the garage after she heard shouting to find me waving a rubber mallet at the vice. Will start again 2moro. Ned

Fitted some more of the crush tubes just the rear lower wishbones to do. Also fitted the front mesh grill and the front suspension, just need to cut bolts down to size, got the M12's all at 90mm just in case. . Need some help with the top wish bones, seems there are 2 sizes. . I've put the smaller ones on the front, smaller as in the ones that don't stick out as far. If anyone can give me a definitive answer as to short ones front/long ones back I would be grateful. Also just building up the front rally design uprights, whats the best discs to use with these. Cheers Ned.

Hi Guys Sorted out the suspension problem, small ones at the front, big ones at the back. I now have another problem, These freakin things -. . I have tried to thread the nuts on these things all the way up but the nuts appear to be locking after a couple of threads, I have tried to force them but I don't want to damage the threads. Since these are part of the Infinite variable suspension I know other builders have them so some advice would be great. It's just the nuts (gold ones) the silver nuts on the rear suspension setup work fine with these. It's holding me up putting the suspension together. I also need to get a better camera, this camera phone's pictures are crap. Ned

Hi Ned,
The good news is I had exactly the same problem! Back ones went on fine but the nuts on the front ball jobs wouldn't go on more than a couple of turns. The bad news is that I kind of ignored the problem rather than find a solution at the time and figured I would sort them at a later date. I tried to force them too but they would not budge! My plan was and still is just to buy a couple of other nuts like the one ones used for the rear but any suggestions from other builders would be gratefully received from myself also.
Cheers
Kevin

The nuts were supplied with the ball joint, thats why I'm after some new ones. Not going well at the minute, just found out that the rear brake calipers I bought off Ebay, that were supposed to be Mk1 calipers, are actually not. The carrier is completely different, holes don'tline up with the rear upright so need to start looking again.
