Got my insurance, went with American Modern, tomorrow i'm heading to the tag office to get a temp permit so I can drive to the inspection station. If that fails I will trailer it, but i'm ready to drive it so I hope this temp permit idea works out for me. Anyways, car should be street legal by end of week. I'll be back with an update tomorrow.

drove it around a couple of days and now i have a check engine light, my new code scanner should be here tomorrow to help me diagnose what the issue is. It did rain on me but i'd like to think we did a better job weather proofing the car than that. We'll see what the code is tomorrow.

only throwing one code, P0037, HO2S Heater control circuit Low bank 1 sensor 2, so it sounds like I have a bad O2 sensor, easy enough fix

so it seems like about 90% of the time, and i'm making up that percentage, but most of the time, after driving it and then trying to start it when hot it doesn't like to start. It turns over and over but won't start, then it kind of stumbles, and then starts running. After doing a little research it appears it may be the cam position sensor. Any other ideas here before I start just replacing sensors?

Well, it looks like the journey is over. After jumping through hoops to get everything they asked for at the tag office, they came back with "off road use only" when i tried registering as a lotus 7 replica. They asked me what it resembles the most and that's what I said. That seems to be the catch in TX, it has to resemble/replica a car, at least that is why i have been told I can't register it.

Wow that sucks, what do you plan on doing next? How did others in TX register it?

This battle in TX right now is looking promising. From what it looks like there may be a chance of getting them registered in TX on September 1st of this year.

Have you taken care of the windshield bonding? typically a bare metal track (aluminum most often) is mechanically fixated to the frame, and then a silicone adhesive is used to adhere the plexiglass or lexan to the track itself

haven't messed with the windshield, kinda put the whole project on the back burner, even contemplated selling it. As of now the bill has passed and goes into effect on September first. Just gotta wait and see what the process will be like when the time comes.

So now that TX house bill 1755 is in effect I am still striking out at the tag office. Telling me that this law doesn't do anything for me but allow me to title it for off road use only. So what they are telling me is that I can pay them some money and have it designated as off road use only. The part that is pissing me off is that they read the definition of sand rail to me, it says in their book "rear or mid engine" in not those exact words. So I showed them mine was neither, showed them a pic of my engine bay. Waiting to hear back from Austin now they pushed it up the chain but I don't have high hopes.

Could you not register the car in another state that accepts kit cars?
