I read with interest all the above comments. As has been clearly stated there is a manufacturer of both Classic Rocket and Rocket 2. The project I purchased was the original or classic Rocket kit (not Rocket 2) along with all the issues of missing info and variations in production from previous production. I stated previously that with the current situation of an experienced manufacturer of both these models still being in existence going head to head with them makes no sense and I continue with experimenting with a modified build using other donar vehicles. I do have an original build ongoing but due to the issues previously highlighted by many it has been anything but straight forward getting consistency. This being the reason I am still experimenting with using donar car hubs, running gear etc to reduce the previous problems. I have no intention of repeating a process that results in the previous problems. The project is still ongoing.

Lots of talk and no action, what a waste of a great product. At least EXO sports Cars are still doing it. Oh and the one I drove in Czech was so good even I was impressed.

You can't really blame a new manufacturer for not wanting to try and compete with an incumbent supplier of an existing product, with the exact same offering. Particularly when it is so unclear who actually owns the IP for the product.
Were MEV Ltd to be clear on who actually owns the IP for the product, then kpower would at least have a fighting chance of selling the 'official' MEV designed product. As it stands, he's just the new kid on the block selling something that is already well established by a bigger kid, with shiny marketing and existing customers.
Statement's like the one above do nothing but completely undermine his position. As it stands, from my position at least, it looks like K-power has been sold a dud that he has no chance of realistically marketing. By all means correct me if I'm wrong, but unless someone on firm ground holds EXO Sports Cars to account for selling a product that they don't own (or do they?), then a new manufacturer has no feasible hope of being able to market the product.
Just my opinion anyway, I may be entirely uninformed. However, as someone who was shopping around for a kit not long ago, I'd steer clear of any classic rockets because the situation is so unclear...

I waited when brimoto bought the project, talked for ages at stoneleigh and got excited again, only to be let down. Then when kpower took over the project waited again only to be let down. 3rd time lucky bought the kit from exo and have to say cannot fault it one bit.

It would be nice to see some more Rockets builds on here, even if they are from Exo.

Please see the Rocket history pages on here if you wish to understand ownership situation. mevowners.proboards.com/thread/7798/rocket-historyBrimoto purchased the tools for the old Rocket (not the IP) and made lots of posts on here about Rocket future. Brimoto sold the old tools to Kpower (not the IP) who also has also made lots of posts on here about Rocket future. The IP is owned by a Czech firm who are not interested in protecting the rights to the old Rocket as they are developing their own version as seen in my previous post. Exo changed their name from RTR and continued to produce Rocket but without involvement or support from MEV. We are happy to see our X products being produced. It is very frustrating to see great cars like Mevster, MEVX5 and many others apparently given up on. Rocket has a huge problem, namely Exocet which is much cheaper, much easier to build, has great balance, huge tune-ability and the experts all agree that G-type looks great, has a mean stance and cohesive, contemporary styling.

I don't agree that the Exocet is one of the reasons the Rocket is not being taken up, it's down to personal taste. I built a Rocket but wouldn't want to built an Exocet. The appeal of the Rocket to me was the exposed open chassis and the sleek race car looks, plus the rear engine. I was also swayed by the similarities to the Ariel Atom, but at a cheaper price and that I could put my own personal stamp on. I think there is a huge opportunity for an 'Ariel Nomad style' kit car, with rear engine and high ground clearance, long suspension travel, and as far as I am aware there isn't a kit like that available. If I were a kit manufacturer that is where I would be spending my time. Look what the Rocket did largely due to it's similarity to the Ariel Atom. I know there is an off road Exocet but that's front engine and the styling isn't as sleek as the Nomad. Stuart, if anyone can do this it's you. I know you are busy with Exocet but this could open up a whole new market. I would buy one for sure.

I do intend to build one, I am going to design it myself from scratch.

In one post you say "I would buy one for sure" and in the next "I do not intend to build one, I am going to design one from scratch" Good job I didn't get over enthusiastic and start developing and investing in a car of your choice, seems you got it sorted.

I would buy one if you designed and offered one that I would like to build, as I did with the Rocket. As you are not.. and as no one else offers one I will do it myself. I bought your book a while ago on designing and building a sports car, a great read and offered some very good insight. I learned a lot from building my Rocket and I have done a lot of research on this already, but as it won't be a Mev I will not be able to share the progress on here which is a shame.

I don't object to non MEV cars being put on here Carl. OK so it's against the rules but who cares?

being more flexible over what is allowed on here would be a way to see the forum grow. As I said I don't mind what comes on here now. If Carlyd is designing from scratch then O look forward to seeing sketches, drawings, a CAD rendering or actual work on the bench. Go for it Carlyd.
