Tomorrow (Saturday) should see the final finishing touches to the car. It has been a long hard struggle and I have spent hundreds of hours sorting out all the little bits and pieces that hopefully will make my Exocet just a little different to others, I think Stuart can take advantage of the huge lump of casting on the front hubs to bolt the front mudgaurd stay onto. As in previous pieces the getting off and refitting of the stays using the ball joint nut was a complete nightmare. I honestly think that was the only real issue I had with the build, but time will tell. IVA here we come.

Looking good, love the green. Love the filler position. Im stuck with a tank i can only half fill as my filler caps on the side!! IVA retest been pushed back to next tuesday, 24th May as some donut at avonmouth double booked tuesday coming. they tried to push me back a month!
Id recommend getting the IVA paper work done as its about a month from form filling to a date, and you look almost done. Alex

I`ll try and post some pictures.

Thanks for that Tim, Stuart has pointed out to me via Email that the 1600 models do not have the lump on the caliper. I`ve got a couple of 1600 donars so I`ll have a look at them to see if there is another option.

Hi Alex, I`ve downloaded application forms, putting together a dossier including photos of the build then hopefully getting an early test date. Best of luck on your re-test should fly through if they are only going to re-test the failures. How did you overcome the front stay problems? have you stayed with your wishbone mod? Regards Ted

Hi Eddie,
Car is looking amazing - I'm building the same colour scheme so looking forward to getting it completed. ;D
Just wondering if you can give me a bit more info on the filler cap please?
Firstly, is that a motorbike filler plate that you've used on the cover? I've found them for around £30 but not seen anything specifically intended for car use (not that I can see that it would make much difference anyway).
Secondly, how did you fix the filler tube in to the tank? I noticed in an earlier post that paultyre mentioned welding it in, but I was wondering whether you did the same or had an alternative solution - have to say I'm a bit concerned by the costs involved with the welding option? I've seen some ultra flexible fuel filler pipe that looks like it may be flexible enough to put on to the standard fill point then bend on up for a central filler point....have you any thoughts on this?
Cheers,
Steve.

Sspogman . I tried using flexi pipe and found that the bends were to restrictive when filling at the pump and it kept splashing and clicking off ( very frustrating ) . weilding is a very simple option aslong as you make sure the tank is very very clean before you start . having the filler on the top is great as i can fill the the tank fully with ease .

What you have to end up with is a female plate that is the correct height ie. touching the grp moulding so that you can bolt your filler cap to the receiver. what ever you do PLEASE wash out the tank with strong solution of soapy water to stop DEATH by EXPLOSION. You could of course make up a flange with tail to bolt onto the place where the carbon canister used to be, then put on a piece of flexi hose, put your female end into this, I used some 5mm MEM fastners as the cap came with 5mm counter sunk screws, this would aleviate the need to weld or braze, just make sure that you make all joints leak proof by using proprietry sealants and gaskets. if you can weld or braze then just carefull measurments are all you need. I will try to find the receipt for my cap which I`m sure I got from car builders solutions, they will be at Detling this weekend. I`ll be there giving Stuart my normal ear bashing which he takes in very good spirit. regards Ted

Hi Ted, Great Job! don't know were we would be if it wasn't for you and others taking the time to post. We are in the final furlong so to speak, positioning filler cap, setting rear lights along with a hundred other jobs, as you know. Any chance of some picture's of how you fit bonnet catches, also rear and front lights detail, would like to copy you if you don't mind. Glad to hear someone else gives Stuart an ear bending, we were getting a bit of a complex, just too many things left to interpretation. Hope IVA went well. Really great job, perhaps we will meet up in July's get together? Regards Jeff
