Couple of thoughts: 3) I'm not sure on 97, but on my car the second fan only comes on when the AC is on... We don't have AC, so the second fan would never come on. There is a way to wire the fan to come on, but it isn't as simple and wiring both fans with the same wire... The relay can't take the hit. I'm only running one fan, and have everything else you mention and have no problem staying cool. I have a track day this weekend, which will be 97deg's out. I am not worried at all. 4) I'm trying out a new windshield idea. My plastic (from TAP) should be done tomorrow. I'll take pictures. Inspiration came from this: 7) Speedhut gauges are the answer. Their GPS speedo is freaking awesome. It grabs a signal within a few seconds and have never had an issue with not picking up a signal. The rest of their gauges are freaking awesome too!

First time posting on the site. I've got a 5.0 Miata, and have been considering selling it and building an Exocet. After researching for a while, I actually saw one on the 101 the other day and just about crashed I was so excited. I live in Paso Robles, Ca, and read through your whole build thread- looks awesome!!! I'm wondering if you know of any Exocet owners in central California (preferably central coast). I'd love to see one and drive in one before I pull the trigger. I'm hoping to not have to drive 3 hours north to a San Jose meet but I may just have to Keep up the good work!

Don't recall, but I don't think you have a turbo, which makes a difference. I didn't even bother with the second cooling fan since Exocets cool pretty well. I've had no heat problems, even with 2 driver back-to-back track sessions. The single cooling fan rarely turns on. The only non-stock thing I have is an aluminum Koyo radiator. No cooling re-route. Are you sure you don't have a stuck thermostat, plugged radiator, or something else simple going on?

Unfortunately my Exo isn't quite street legal at the moment but once it is I do plan on taking a long drive in it. Are you thinking of converting your 5.0 Miata into an Exocet? That would be a pretty interesting conversion.

The radiator is a new stock replacement, the original was damaged when my donor was taken apart. I'm not especially worried about the temps right now but while sitting still it does get hot pretty quickly.

That would be a pretty interesting conversion. Unfortunately in order to pay for the Exocet I'll have to sell the 5.0 Miata. I would love to though. It should put down around 265 to the wheels which would be enough to qualify for "insane" in the Exocet. With the Exocet, at least the SB100 is an option. For the 5.0 Miata, it's nearly impossible to pass a referee to be CARB legal. Well if you get the Exocet street legal, you've got a place to crash in Paso Robles, or at the very least stop off and grab a beer. I'd love to see it in person!

The turn signals arrived while I was at work so I spent this evening getting them installed. My first though when I order the turn signals was to drill the headlight buckets and mount the turn signals directly to the buckets but once I actually had them in hand a much better, easier mounting solution became obvious: using the turn signals at pinch bolts for the the headlight adjustment. Kicking the lights out this way also solves a clearance issue I was having the headlight buckets and the front bodywork. I think that this will do.

Do you have to do brake and light inspection? Wait, back up... Have you started the SB100 process?

Like the set up Sean. Those are Exomotive Dominators correct and the turn signals? Nice way to simplify the mounting.

The turn signals are from J & P Cycles. (Link below) They're nicely made with metal buckets, pretty robust. The tinted lenses that they come with aren't DOT stamped so I won't be using them until after all of the inspections are finished. I want to push them back further on the frame but that will have to wait until after inspections, too. www.jpcycles.com/product/542-088One of the things I did have to with the headlights do was to re-index the lamps inside of the buckets and notch the retaining rings so that the orientation of the light remains correct vs. the ground. This means that now I have definite left and right headlight but that's really not an issue, just an observation.

I'm going to be traveling for a couple of weeks at the end of the month, don't want to start the process and have a break in the middle. I'm looking to start SB100 ~10/15. In the mean time, for the rest of September I'm going to haul ass on getting the car as buttoned up as I can.

What is this thing? I can't find any reference to it in my factory wiring diagram. (1997 1.8L donor)

(1997 1.8L donor) I asked the same question... bottom of page 15 on my build mevowners.proboards.com/thread/3878/tridents-exocet-build?page=15 I can remember 100 percent but I think I just traced the wires back and removed it as it was a blank connector. The electrics was part of the build that I have tried to remove from my memory Good luck

I just wanted to know if anybody else had been confused by it before I cut it out of my harness wholesale.
