I'm over the moon right now! Couple of minor fuel leaks at the tank to fix. (Just need to tighten the fitting a bit more.) Also a coolant leak that needs to be addressed.

The fuel leaks were easy, just loose AN fittings. The coolant leak will also probably be easy, too. Digging into my FSM this afternoon but has anybody got some helpful tricks/tips/advice for sealing this thing up properly?

New O ring and clean everything well. Cool. On the upside, I've actually got an O-ring in my stash of spares. Should be a reasonably quick job then.

Nice job getting it started. I think if mine struggled like that the first few times I would have freaked out. Now I know to just keep trying !

Got any more advice than just that? Lube it with what?

Nice job getting it started. I think if mine struggled like that the first few times I would have freaked out. Now I know to just keep trying ! Mine struggled because I was kinda lazy about ground connections for this first go, before pairing down the wiring harness the bare essentials. For this run I'd just taped the ECU and relay grounds to the bottom of the wiring tray which connects to chassis ground. It worked but it wasn't exactly the best possible ground connection, good enough for a couple of tests. I'm thinking about installing a bus bar with a solid ground connection in the wiring tray so that I can ensure good grounding for everything.

Any lube just to coat it don't glob it on.. white grease, silicone, even wheel bearing grease is better then nothing..

Awesome Build!
I'm local in SJ too and I've been toying with the idea of an exocet chassis. Now to sell off the M3 and 335i and make this happen!

There are a few us around the Bay Area it seems. (I bought my Exo chassis the same day I happen to meet Steadfast in his Exocet in Los Gatos last year!) Sad to see you giving up an M3 and a 335i, though. I'd be totally lost without my 135i daily driver.

Few small updates. First, I found myself constantly leaving the car in accessory mode because everything that would remind me the car is in accessory is disconnected. For the time being I've wired up an LED to the cigarette lighter circuit so I have a visual cue on the car's state while I work on the electrical system. Second, to make things easier on myself while starting and stopping the car while on jacks and I work on the electrical system I bent up a piece of aluminum to hold the clutch switch closed. This has been far handier than I'd have ever imagined. And, well, only $0.05 in material with some elbow grease and the vice. Third, swapped out the leaking O-ring. Pretty quick job, all things considered. The old O-ring was pretty well done. Let the car idle until warm after I got everything buttoned back up with flush with fresh coolant. Happy to report everything is dry as a bone. Also happy that I invested in a number of spares to have on hand for just this reason. And last, to make grounding as simple and foolproof as possible while I work on pairing down the electrical I've mounted a bus bar in the wiring tray with double sided foam tape. The car literally springs to life now, even more so than before I took the donor apart. It's also nice not having to think "Now where the hell can I ground this thing to?!" while slinging connectors around; I know exactly where I can get a good ground.

I love the "idiot" light! I may have to do that when I start pruning my harness. I have already noticed that I leave the keys in the ignition pretty much every time I get out of the car!

Better put a long red flag on the clutch switch adapter to pull it when wheels are on the ground.. Forget it and turn key to far and it will be oh $hit time.
