Got a little more progress in on the car yesterday. Most of it was spent fabricating brackets to mount the fuse box and coolant expansion tank by the firewall. I picked up a 1 quart overflow tank from Summit. Having looked over a number of builds I knew that I wanted to mount near the passenger's side firewall where I've got quite a bit of free space. The minor challenge was coming up with a bracket. Since I was at it, I figured I should also work out a bracket for the fuse box at the same time since they're going be in the same general area. I'm starting to question my decision to go with the red tank but...whatever. The tank is pretty inexpensive and very bare bones, I've order a sight kit for it, which is also pretty inexpensive. At any rate, after a fair but of measuring, cutting, test fitting, bending, cursing, taping, marking cutting, riveting, fitting this is the result. It's two brackets, both will be held in with M6 nutserts. The tank bracket holds the bottle an inch off the firewall with enough space between the rank and the fuse block mount to run the harness between them from inside of the car. Both brackets are built from scrap aluminum. And for grins and giggles, as a last step for the night, I hit them with a dusting of primer in prep for a couple coats of black engine paint today. (If I don't paint them now I know that I never will.) I also plan on capping the rough rivet ends with vacuum line caps to keep them from scraping/rubbing anything that may end up next to them, like the wiring harness. And now black...

Upgrading the suspension on the car was something I wasn't going worry about too much until I got the car registered and on the road. That said, the rear shocks on my donor were blown and there was a really awesome group buy on VMAXX coil overs that I couldn't pass up. But if you look closely at the photos I've posted so far you'll notice that I don't actually have VMAXX coil overs on my car. Well...There's a story there. Originally I bought a set of NA VMAXX coil overs with the full intention of using those for my Exocet to replace the stock setup in the initial build. I knew that there might be some ride-height concerns using aftermarket suspension with the Exo chassis so I got Exomotive to send me a set of shock mount spacers powder coated to match the chassis. Not wanting to grind and mess with spacers once I got them meant swapping to NB style top-hats which...insert fail-train here. What's on the car right now are a really inexpensive set of Raceland NB coil overs. These are a stop-gap measure while I build and register the car. I do not expect them to survive more than a couple of months after I'm through with registration. The only real advantage they possess is that they're [vastly] cheaper than buying a full set of OEM shocks and springs. This all gets to the fun of mating the power plant frame to the chassis. I borrowed a couple of friends and got this done in about 20 minutes. I seriously couldn't believe how easy it was. Myself and one friend dead lifted the chassis from either end, the other friend pushed the PPF under the chassis and got things lined up as we lowered each end of the car down. Then we went about bolting everything everything in place. At some point soon I need to re-do the bolts for the front subframe since the friend in charge of that inverted the bolts. (nuts on top) The need for suspension spacers became SUPER OBVIOUS at this point! Thankfully, FedEx arrived with a box from Exomotive containing the spacers that afternoon. The next day I spent some time installing those bad-boys. And after they were installed... That said, if anybody needs/wants a set of NA VMAXX Extreme coil overs, PM me 'cause I've got a set to sell some time. Moral of the story - I should have just assumed from the outset that I'd be upgrading the NB style suspension and saved myself the minor headaches. (And slashed open palm and bleeding, but that's another story. No project works without blood sacrifices.)

Hey Sean, so the problem with the NA VMAXX is that it wont fit onto the Exo spacers without needing NB top hats ? I have an NA donor and did order the spacer too .. wondering if I should start scrounging CL for NB shocks now ...

You can use the NA top hats with the spacers, you just have to modify the spacers a bit. I didn't want to do that with my spacers, tho.

While painting some brackets last night I took a couple of moments to also clean up and paint the exhaust heat shield. Totally unnecessary but man it looks kinda nice in high-temp gloss black!

I've done a little searching but can't seem to find if anybody has fabricated a bracket to hold these vacuum solenoids together/ out of the way?

I removed all of them and just blocked off the hoses.

I'm interested in what sight glass you ordered for the Jeg's overflow bottle.

I'm interested in what sight glass you ordered for the Jeg's overflow bottle. If you go to Summit Racing and search for "catch can sight" it will bring up the part. It's generic, can fit into pretty much any catch can with a little bit of work. Direct link below. Summit Catch Can Sight - Summit Racing

Nice, I'm very jealous of your progress. Can't wait for it to be up and running which looks to be soon!

Do you need all of those sensors? Why not delete the EGR valve and get rid of that stuff?
