I'm going to be replacing my gauge cluster soon, the aux led is a just a work around until I install my Speed Hut gauge stack.

What I do since the car has been running is to start the motor and get it to full working temp with the garage door up then turn off the car and close the garage door a few minutes later. Then about 30 minutes later the garage is a few degrees warmer and that makes the difference for me. I don't really have the option of working in the house though so its that or nothing .. PS. Did you get any letter in the mail from Sacramento with your SPCN after that was assigned by DMV ? If yes, how long did that take ?

Given the holiday shutdown I'd expect you should her it this coming week.

And back together, center clocked to the correct position for use in an Exocet.

Update on my registration process:
I just got off the phone with the ref at Evergreen College, he told me that the CA BAR is bouncing my request because my Exocet doesn't have a safety glass windshield or wipers. (He referenced CHP-892) This is not a new requirement but it one that they haven't been actively enforcing until, it seems, now. The BAR is somewhat arbitrary in which requirements they decide to enforce, after looking out the window at all of the rain falling in California it seems that they've decided to require safety glass windshields, wipers, and fenders. (Glad I took to the time to install my fenders before starting out.)
Bottom line: If you're currently building an Exocet in California, be aware that the BAR is currently requiring all special construction vehicles to have safety glass windshields, a windshield wiper, and fenders.

Yuck! I'm quite happy to have made it through before they started checking these things. Do you know which referee you had? I'm curious if it was the same guy I worked with a couple months back. I do have a safety glass windshield, I can loan it to you for the appointment if needed. You'd have to swing up to Fremont to pick it up though.

I will try to verify later tonight if it is AS-1 rated?! As you mentioned in another thread.

I'll need to figure out a way to mount a windshield wiper, though. Below is a picture. I took pictures of the mount as well (from Exomotive), the glass is "window welded in" so unfortunately it can't easily be removed. Which means it may not work with the race chassis. I did a bit of searching in my email. The windshield I have is supposedly 1/4" laminated safety glass. I ordered it from Grand Prix Glass in San Jose for $230 (which I thought was quite a bit more than it should be). It appears they ordered it from a place called GlassFab out of Tracy. The glass does not have a logo, sticker, or any identifying info on it. I'm hoping to have my car back together by the second week of February as I will be moving to Orange County late February or early March. You are more than welcome to borrow the windshield if you can have it back before then. Please excuse the large amount of dirt and the bolts that are everywhere.

The front tubes of my cage might be a problem with getting that fitted into place though it looks like it could fit with modification. I wouldn't dream of missing your windshield but I would like to borrow it to get a better idea on what I would need to change if I were to order one from Emotive.

Photo time! Almost have the windshield as done as I want to deal with right now. This has been a major drag on my energy and enthusiasm for my car, if I'm going to be completely honest. Not that our near constant rain this winter hasn't been also been a drag in and of itself. Anyway, the photos are fairly self explanatory. Bought a set of steel shaft collars (1.75") w/ 3/8" holes tapped in them off of eBay. Turns out that they're REALLY nice, even if kind of obscenely heavy. I had to get some 2" angle aluminum to fabricate new angle brackets to tie the windshield frame clamps to the shaft collars. With shaft collars fitted to the chassis, I bolted the angle brackets to the windshield frame and carefully adjusted the position until it was sitting as close to perfectly centered as I could get it by hand, then marked up the angle brackets to drill the holes for the 3/8th's cap screws that will actually hold the windscreen on. It still all feels a bit janky but it should work out well enough for inspection purposes. Oh, and a couple of views from inside the car with the screen in place. Photos taken at, approximately, my eye level and position from the driver's seat.
