Back from my visit with the Ref. That was actually a lot of fun! Apart from collecting photographs of my car and information to transmit to the BAR for their approval, he was really happy with my car. He was also kinda happy that I didn't have the body work on the car, he liked seeing it naked and didn't indicate that not having it on the car would in anyway be an issue in the process. The whole thing was pretty chill, we talked a lot about what he likes seeing roll into the shop for inspection. He encouraged me to turbo the nuts off the car, too. He's looking forward to seeing a K-powered Miata roll through. Actually, he gets pretty excited about Exocets in general because, as he states, every single one of them he's seen has been different in some way or another. The Ref has a very strong built, not bought preference. He was vastly more impressed with my self built Exocet than the Superformance GT40 that was there before me this morning. (Beautiful car but not yet a runner. Seems that cars don't even need to be running to for SB100 BAR inspection!) That car was being professionally assembled for the owner and while technically allowable under SB100, he felt that it kinda violates the spirit of build it yourself kit cars. After transmitting my documentation and paperwork to the BAR he gave them a call to talk bout the package he sent them. He spoke pretty enthusiastically to them about my car so. Hopefully I'll hear back from the BAR today or tomorrow but it may be next week. It made me feel very good when the ref saw me off with a very enthusiastic, "Thank you for bringing me something cool to look at!" I'm 100% jealous of your CA registration process! Makes me think everyone in CA should go to the Los Gatos branch. Btw posted pics of the rear mounts you asked about on my thread.

This work of art just arrived on my doorstep from England. It came with a a little friend, too.

Hmmm .. very nice .. buuuuut that doesn't seem like the COT wing you had earlier! It isn't. The CoT I have is just too heavy. 40 pounds versus 6 for the APR wing. It's a no brainer.

Are you using the tube collars just to keep the belts from moving on the harness bar? Or do you have some kind of bracing going to them?

Are you using the tube collars just to keep the belts from moving on the harness bar? Or do you have some kind of bracing going to them? They're there to keep the belts from moving too much on the bars and partially for looks. The belts don't shift around that much when properly wrapped but why take chances? Eventually I'm going add another shaft-collar between each of the sets of belts to brace the seat backs but I don't see that really being a necessity right now. I have a lot of other projects that I need to finish up on the car. In rough order of operations - - Body work. - Gauge cluster replacement. - Water pump & head rebuild. - Torsen installation & suspension rebuild. - Megasquirt PNP installation. - Turbo installation & tuning

Hey Sean, which pipe clamp did you use for your headlights ? I bought two different type off Amazon but am not liking them both.

Check out Extreme Metal Products. extrememetalproducts.com/Phocup - try off road tube clamps. Searching that on amazon should give you a variety of options. Your build is looking good.

Small update on the turbo front.
Started to pull the turbo apart this evening to rebuild it, ran into a massive brick wall. The turbine housing is pretty well seized to the CHRA. (rust is a pain in the butt.) I've tried some heat with no luck. I'm letting it soak with penetrating to see if that helps things out, not super confident though. If I can't get the turbine housing off I won't be able to clock the center and, for my use, the turbo will effectively be junk. If that's the case, I'll probably jump on a rebuilt and upgraded unit from a known Subaru parts/tuning shop.
On the up side, I only spent $135 on used/abused turbo and expected to either upgrade or replace it anyway.

Know you're onto the turbo, but think your blue indicator brights wouldn't work, so you hooked up an external LED. Working through the same issue, seems like the blue indicator is triggered by the amount of current... by hooking up resistors it can be increased so that current triggers the light to working. What i haven't figured out is how to get both the blue light in the gauge pod and the brights to work at the same time... anyway, just an FYI. Happy new year
