Also picked this up beautiful little thing to add oil pressure and temperature gauges to my car. And, other things, too. I also didn't know this was a thing. I just ordered one for my other project car. Should work great! Thanks.

Been a while since I've updated. I don't have anything super new to share with progress of my build, I'm starting to plot out my upgrade projects on it for next year. I'm really getting annoyed at how much it has been raining even though we desperately need the rain here in California. I haven't really gotten a chance to drive my Exo since getting my red tags. On the upside, the long-range weather forecast predicts sunny skies on the 13th when I go to beg the CHP to bestow a VIN number upon my Exocet. Between now and then I need to tweak my fenders a little for rubbing issues and get some miles under the wheels to make sure that my replaced output shaft seal is, you know, actually sealing the output shaft. I've also been collecting up parts to turbo the stock BP to run it boosted until it pops. To that end, I've been picking up bits and pieces along the way to start that work once I've gotten the car through SB100 and fully registered. That's part of why I bought that really nice oil-cube and have already replaced the fuel pump with a Deatschwerks DW200. I just got confirmation that my Megasquirt PBP ECU has shipped, should be in my hands on Saturday. (10% off Black Friday sale for the win!) I'll pick up a set of ID1000 injectors next month as a birthday present to myself. I just picked up a TD04l-13t from a Forrester XT (Ebay, sub $200 including a rebuild kit) that'll get bolted to the motor with a Kraken Manifolds cast iron 1.8L BP turbo manifold. Intercooler, piping, and exhaust still TBD. The TD04l-13t should be a good starting turbo for the 1.8L mill, I don't anticipate running more than 10-12psi once things are dialed in. There are a ton of upgrade options if I decided to go down that rabbit hole later. The next major service before I turbo the thing, though, will be a clutch replacement and a torsen install. (Thanks, steadfast !)

Some parts for post new years project have arrived. And requisite banana shot, for scale. ( because the TD04l-13t is really small! ) I might upgrade it to a 16g compressor if I send it out for a rebuild.

While making an unrelated search on the Yamaha Sport Ride concept car I stumbled onto a link for a company making carbon fibre cycle fenders for Lotus replicas. Suddenly my desire to replace my fenders with aluminum pieces is pedestrian. www.carbon-nv.co.uk/products.htmlRelated, I also stumbled over this Lotus heavy kit car pays seller in the UK with many items quite adaptable to the Exocet. www.kitcardirect.co.uk/

The standard fiberglass fenders don't weigh much, so I don't see a huge advantage in reducing weight. on the other hand, the ducted fenders claim to have an aero advantage, and that's interesting. I wonder what the overall effect of these would be? (also wonder what the lift/downforce of the stock fenders are...)

For me it's not so much about the weight as it is that I'm not really thrilled with the design/look of the Exomotive fenders. I'll likely end up going with fibre glass cycle fenders from a Lotus 7/Locost parts vendor now that I've managed to find them.

The other problem with the fenders is that the mounts are not exactly robust or well designed. Aside from the fact that they shake and rattle, I'm not sure how they manage to hold the finders on at track speeds, but they seem to.

Back from my visit with the Ref. That was actually a lot of fun! Apart from collecting photographs of my car and information to transmit to the BAR for their approval, he was really happy with my car. He was also kinda happy that I didn't have the body work on the car, he liked seeing it naked and didn't indicate that not having it on the car would in anyway be an issue in the process. The whole thing was pretty chill, we talked a lot about what he likes seeing roll into the shop for inspection. He encouraged me to turbo the nuts off the car, too. He's looking forward to seeing a K-powered Miata roll through. Actually, he gets pretty excited about Exocets in general because, as he states, every single one of them he's seen has been different in some way or another. The Ref has a very strong built, not bought preference. He was vastly more impressed with my self built Exocet than the Superformance GT40 that was there before me this morning. (Beautiful car but not yet a runner. Seems that cars don't even need to be running to for SB100 BAR inspection!) That car was being professionally assembled for the owner and while technically allowable under SB100, he felt that it kinda violates the spirit of build it yourself kit cars. After transmitting my documentation and paperwork to the BAR he gave them a call to talk bout the package he sent them. He spoke pretty enthusiastically to them about my car so. Hopefully I'll hear back from the BAR today or tomorrow but it may be next week. It made me feel very good when the ref saw me off with a very enthusiastic, "Thank you for bringing me something cool to look at!"

Sweeet. How far out did you have to make CHP and BAR appointments ? You can make the BAR appointment the second the CHP stamps a VIN on your chassis. I think I got lucky because I called the BAR on Monday and they had two spots open for this morning. I don't think that's normal for them, tho.

Nice, also what is that plastic piece you used to mount your temp tag?
