Just sayin ... I'd really like that engine for my Exo !! That LS is pumping out ~700HP. It's a beast in the Ultima...I can only imagine it being an atomic bomb in an Exocet!

Things I've done on the car so far this weekend: 1. Fabricated a bracket to hold the under-dash fuse box in place so that it's not loose and bouncing around. 2. Extended the leads for the brake-light switch since they were way too short and in prep for the brake and light inspection I realized that I'd completely forgotten to connect it. Found that it was way too short with how I have the harness folded up in the wiring tray. 3. Adjusted the brake light switch so that the brake lights aren't on all the time, only when, you know, the brake pedal is being used. 4. Adjusted my rear-view mirrors. I love them but they don't work well. Well enough for now but I'm going to chuck them the second I find something I like better. Fortunately they weren't that expensive. 5. Adjusted the length of the harness belts. 6. Cleaned up the floor pans, installed grip-tape. 7. Ran the car up to operating temperature for an hour, verified that the new fans come on as they should. They move a CRAZY amount of air through the radiator. Between the double thick radiator core and shrouded dual fans I'm seeing ZERO heat issues at idle which I had been seeing with the stock radiator.

Brake and Light is done, thank Dog. Wound up at a shop that two other shops pointed me at. That shop was skeptical about the whole thing but helped me out none the less...even if it took a whole day to get it done because reasons. I won't give an open recommendation for the shop but PM me if you can't find anywhere else to go and I'll let you know where I went. I learned a couple of things. The first is that most shops that do brake and light inspections don't do them often so they don't actually know what they need to check. When faced with a custom car like an Exocet they usually just say no to save themselves the hassle. Thankfully this shop decided that they liked money and dug into their inspection manual, then did the work. Have your documentation ready. Also have a wiring diagram handy so you can quickly sort out issues or point out where the shop is wrong about how things on your car actually work. Even if you don't have all of your body work installed, make sure that you have a license plate Light on the car. That tripped me up and I had to make a trip to oriely for $9 in parts to make one. Other than that, I think I put about 100 miles on my Exocet today zipping between the shop and home several times. I put my one-day permit to good use!

Nice job. Hurts a bit to see them use that non padded jack on your powdercoat. Any damage ?
Also, was this shop the one that Colin recommended ?

Nice job. Hurts a bit to see them use that non padded jack on your powdercoat. Any damage ? Also, was this shop the one that Colin recommended ? No, the one I used is in Campbell. And sure, it hurts a little to use the jack without a pad but it's not too bad. The up side is that the shop owner asked me to jack the car up myself so that he wouldn't damage it. I give him props for that. Somewhat related, while rolling the car out of the shop last night I accidentally rolled the driver's front tire over my foot. Thank dog that Exocets are so light. Hurt like hell but no personal damage, thankfully. I also want to make another point, whatever you do, make sure that the lights you have on your car when go to do the brake and light inspection have markings on them that indicate they are DOT/SAE approved. They are required to check. So if you'r e looking to put some super tick, awesome lights on your scoot make sure they're approved or buy a set of cheap DOT/SAE lights to get you through the inspection. Last, it's way easier to pass brake and light inspection if you have the stock instrument cluster installed since they check to make sure that things like a blue indicator comes on for high-beams and that when you the parking brake is engaged that a "brake" indicator is illuminated. I'm trying to find a copy of the CA brake and light inspection handbook now.

Seems that a day of driving around on Tuesday shook out at least one problem. Leaking output shaft seal.

Replaced the output shaft seal. Not a hard job but it does require dropping the cat-back and the drive-shaft.

Working on the front fender mounts, completely stumped by the back mount. The photo on Exomotive's build guide (and description of how it mounts) sucks. For the life of me I can't figure out how/where the back mount goes. I assume that I'm going to be drilling the spindle/knuckle but...where/how? Also, the 205 section tires I'm running run on the mount arms. Looks like I'm going to need to kick them out a little with a 5mm spacer. (and ARP studs, which are on order.

Spent a bit more time noodling through it and googling for dollars, sorta figured it out on the front. Of course, it's precision bent and...not really. The front clears my tire well enough, the rear not so well. And of course the side of my 205 section tires rub the supports. :/ the rear should be a matter of heating the bent and pulling it out a bit. Now I understand why Exomotive shipped them non-powder coated. They really are kind of an afterthought. I also think I'm going to have to kick my 16x8s to the curb and drop to 15s, which I'd been planning on anyway. (Also, probably spacers.)

Some fender mount adjustment has been done. Before, as supplied by Exomotive. After, with the application of a MAP torch and a little brute force.

Sucks to see you struggle so much with the fender .. I'm glad I prefer the 'naked' look.
