Hmm, strange. Check for weld marks ? I know some places recommend placing some tack welds to keep it in place. Local car spares shop reckon they will need a BIG press, so I guess I'll have to forget blasting and powder-coating and stick to paint

Wow. Serious bit of kit, but I guess you could also put the bushes in with it, and bottle your own wine

Some present came a few days ago. Finally had time to check them out. I had hoped for slightly lower weight than 14.56# for these 15x8. According to Kevin ( of Exomotive ), these are supposedly clones of TrakLite, made by the same manufacturer and from the same mold. However, Holeshot are claimed to be 12.5# for 15x8 so not sure who's correct there. .. but it is what it is. For the price ( $440 / set ), they're not bad. Down the line, I might move to the RPF1-RS which claims 11.3# .. BUUUT that means I'll need to run 28mm spacer .. which means ARP extended bolt .. which means both added cost ( $269 / corner vs $110 ) and added weight so not sure if I'll actually lose much more than 1# a corner there ..

I'd recommend upgrading to the ARP extended studs anyways if you're looking to do many track days.

Great news on the kit being sent out! Although I'm pretty confident the three people above me would be just as much or more help than myself. I'm also in the area and willing to lend a hand if and when it is needed. Additionally, I'm looking for pretty much any reason I can to take the Exocet out so...

Additionally, I'm looking for pretty much any reason I can to take the Exocet out so... Thanks for all the kind offer guys! When my kit gets here, it would definitely be great to setup a wrench day and meet more local owners. Sean, I know that I suck with electricals / wiring so its a relief to know I can call on an expert's help if needed. Colin, I still owe you a beer for taking the time to show me your car. That test ride truly sold me that day. I do remember you saying you miss the building part as much as you enjoy driving. Steadfast, LMK when you're looking to get it done! I need to replace my diff bushing too so maybe I'll get some practice on that this week so we can get yours done smoothly. I'll trade press for help with SB100 !! Rumm, I've planned to 'borrow' a few ideas from your exo already. Would be great to get a chance to check it out in person!

Went to pick up my kit today at the UPS depo and my trailer was too small. 7' long fold out Kendon vs 11' long pallet doesn't quite work. Coming back tomorrow with a 6x12 UHaul trailer and a buddy's SUV to tow. In hindsight, it would have been worth the $150 something bucks extra to have it dropped directly in front of my door. Day wasn't a complete bust though, was able to get stuff back from the powder coaters finally. Their sandblaster was down so it took almost a month to get stuff back .. but I'm real happy with the result. Any tips for getting the bushing / bearings pressed back in ?

Any tips for getting the bushing / bearings pressed back in ? I used polyurethane bushings and pressed them in with my harbor freight press. But if a press isn't available, they aren't too difficult to press in by hand (I pressed in a few with my hands before the palm of my hand got sore and switched to the press). I can't comment much on the bearing as I didn't replace mine yet.

(IIRC) I put the bearings in by first finding that a barbell collar was the right size to put on top of the bearing, contacting the outside race while being small enough to fit in the bearing bore. Don't bash on the bearing inner race. Then I put the bearing in the freezer and the upright in a low oven - around 200 degrees so as not to screw up the paint. Working quickly, I put the cold bearing in the upgright and beat the crap out of it with a big hammer before everything equalized to the same temp. The temp differential is supposed to make the bearing fit a little easier. It would have been easier with a proper press.
I used Prothane bushings and they went in fairly easily - a few taps with a rubber mallet.
