Lots of stripping!
Dash out and most of front/rear loom as well as a host of odd bits. All labelled up and ready to get trimmed.
Quick question....
Do we need all the recirculating bits in front of the servo?

Spent this afternoon getting on with stripping, lots of labelling! Rear loom, dash out and most of the loom sorted. Will need to sit with a cold beer and de-wire the Clifford alarm as I can see a load of black wires into the ignition system...Lots of ABS wires to remove too! Splitting the body looks like a job for the bank holiday, so should be cracking on with renovation of components pretty soon after that... State of play today, what a mess!

Colour choice has been bouncing around for a while... Black looks cool, but it's been done...a lot! Orange is a bit too bright on it's own and the orange/black has been done soooooooooooo well by John and Luke that I don't want to copy it (though I will rob all the good ideas! ) I'm thinking of making one in the Gulf Racing colours/scheme and the bike image has the frame to get an idea how it would look... Looking for any ideas, it's not a fast build, I'd like to be on the road for next years kit-car show in May. What do you guys think?

Hi when you strip the loom down you will have to remove the tape /round tube off the loom to be able to get redundant cables out , as you remove tape replace it with cable ties every 12 inches or so and at all direction changes or you will end up with a tangled mess that is almost impossible to sort out . I didn't follow my own advise and am now having to cut each wire to untangle about 50 I recon good luck

Did battle with the rear subframe yesterday, snapped 2 of the camber bolts (both same side) other side was all lubed up with copper-slip, in fact most has been very good. The frame that bolts to the chassis needed 2 bolts cut as they spun, but all in all getting there. Plan is to have the subframes in shot-blastable bits and the gearbox on a stand by the end of Monday, possibly painted. Engine will need some work on an oil leak and I want to paint is, so a 'project' of it's own... Nice surprise was finding I had a LSD in there, saves a few quid buying one, new seals arrived today too. (Library pic of what I can see in shaft holes)

So, pulled diff out and split, all clean and tidy in there, some Lucas oil arrived for it (but not going in yet).
Little setbacks were a few snapped bolts, most can be replaced except a diff mount rubber bolt, stuck in there and one of the lower wishbones folded while removing the bush.
Found a new whole rear subframe assembly on eBay, so recovered with spares.
Next issue will be brakes as I have a set of 2.5 larger calipers...

Nice to see your getting on well. I'm not too far away in Swindon nice to meet some more Exocet owners when I get the chance.

Yup, cool to meet up, your way ahead on the project, nice to see one coming together.
Did get to finally set up the plasma cutter yesterday, that's a cool bit of kit!

Nice everyone likes a plasma cutter. I'm sorting rad mounting and water hoses today but got a dilemma. You might be able to help with actually, mine is a mk2 1.6 and I didn't strip the engine, I have found a water hose Inlet on the intake manifold, but can't figure out the the outlet if you have any idea. Pic of inlet below

The water inlet/port you are talking about in pic is it the one across the top of your finger pointing towards cam cover.. That looks like a vac port. put a small length of hose to it and blow through it see if it comes out behind the throttle body

Pic of inlet below I think you have it sorted, you can see my engine if you want, it's not stripped yet all plugged in ready to tag the loom and hoses. I'm about 45 mins away.
