Good work chap :-) keep the updates coming Will, be had a dat of soda blasting the diff and gearbox, great method of cleaning. Hit it with 'trike' the blast with soda and rinse off. Ready for etch primer and then a top coat in silver. Should stick on well and look pretty good...

Wow big delay since last post!
Wishbones all stripped and parts sorted/binned/cleaned. Going to refurb as we go as this will stand us in good form for the IVA.
Looks like we're going to be buying and stripping a built kit, sounds like skate was just bolted onto chassis. Plan to possibly IVA while building a new supercharged skate.

Well, we have an Exocet (of sorts)... This one, problem is they just lifted the skate and fitted it under the car and it was (apparently) driven as an MX5, then Ian got it and planned to do a rebuild... Time got in the way so now it's with us in sunny Slough... Plan to get it stripped back, once new skate is pretty much built... SaveSave

my Brother owned the Orange Exocet above, (Based in Andover) He bought it from a guy locally already built. After i had seen the poor quality of prep that was done during the original build it made me take extra care on mine. If i had not already bought the kit and a donor i would have stripped it down and started again.

Having gone over the existing kit, there is no way I'm going to try and IVA it, just too rough (as per comment above). This is no reflection on Ian who sold it to me as he never used it on the road, but I'm glad it's not still out there being driven, it had an MOT recently, but the last thing we need is Exocets being driven without being IVA'd. It dilutes everyone else's efforts and will end in tears if there was an accident. Lots of ordering online (some of the MX5 groups on Facebook have been VERY good). It's bloody freezing, so not much can be painted but we are carrying on with stripping hubs etc for paint. I'm spraying smoothrite as it's not needed to be particularly weatherproof or tough... New front/rear bearings (cheap New Old Stock on eBay), then we can build the front/rear assemblies with LSD diff/shafts etc Very light on photo's today but I can promise that (for petrol heads) the next photo will be pornographic! Are you going to change out the SC nose pulley too. Easy boost adder too.
