Just got these finished, wow it's been busy here lately! Mounting the radiator is now made easy with these 2 bolt on laser cut plates. Dual purpose of course, these provide a study mount for hinging the bonnet too. Only £48 plus VAT for the 3 piece set inc bolts/washers/nuts.

Hello, question for Kevin and/or Warren!! Can this idea be adapted as an option on the US Exocet style front end?

Hi Stuart is this for the newer kit versions only or will it fit older Exocets?

Nice add on.. Question how thick is the lower lip were it (hinge) is bolted to the nose.. Should extra metal bracing be bonded along bottom and up some.. A little wind from behind when open might crack body were bolts are.. Sorry just thinking out loud what ifs..

I was thinking the same , I was thinking it needs a wider plate fixing bolts could be hidden by covering with number plate

Love the front hinge set up. When we attempted our flip front, flexing and potential stress cracking were our biggest concern. Ended up building a tubual frame and bonding this to the underside of the whole bonnet. This continued with tubes running down the side of the nose where the pivot point was. Couple of photos. Here you can see the nose detail. The full bonnet. This was then all 'glassed' to the underside of the bonnet. 12 months on no sign off flexing to date (fingers crossed).

Stiggy do you have a picture of this with a radiator mounted? And will it fit an xs? Seriously tempted by these considering my radiator mounting issues.... Cheers

** FOR INFORMATION ** Just to point out that these are intended for fitting with a MK1 radiator with bolt holes on the sides. Will not work with a MK2 rad which needs additional bracket support, which in turn causes the bonnet to sit too far forward and not flush with the chassis, leaving a large gap at the bulkhead crossbar. Thanks to Stuart for all his patience whilst we worked through this before realising!!

Just having a look at this. Do you think there's any reason why I couldn't get a mk1 radiator and use it with these brackets rather than using my mk2 radiator?

Just for anyone searching later I found that the Mk1 and Mk2 radiators are the same size, just the mounting points are different. Looks like others have already swapped between them previously.

This is one of this weekend's jobs. Have the shark-nose, mounting brackets and hinge. I guess I've got to bend the hinge bracket to match the nose profile, but how high up the vertical chassis bars, should I aim to mount the plates?

everyone seems to have trouble with these. Not sure why, I have fitted 3 without issues. I have now started hinging from dash end. Apparently it is difficult to get the grp close to the chassis rail across the dash end. Trial and don't drill, panic, scratch head, try again, give up, order alloy rad mounts. F.O.C if you cannot make yours work. Please have a go though.
