Too much info out there on google for MX5 suspension !! An recommendations or issues with either of these.
MX5 parts has 10% sale at the moment and want to get these ordered while I have some spare cash.
Vmaxx Xxtreme Adjustable or Gaz Gold Professional
Spring rates for Gaz are 350/250 where info I could find on Vmaxx seems to be 391/258 (Mx5parts did not have info)
£100 price difference, but if Gaz Gold are worth it I would get them.
Thanks for any input

I have the Vmaxx units and an issue I am having is getting enough height out of them. They are designed to lower an MX5 and you really need units that are close to the MX5 height. The rear is not too bad and I still have a little adjustment with the 350mm rear height requirement but the front is at its maximum. I would speak to ProTech before you decide, they can make you anything and are good on price. I made a snap decision based on a discounted deal but I now wish I had spoken to ProTech first. www.protechshocks.co.uk/

I did the same as Westie66 but I bought Gaz Gold Pros at a 'never to be repeated price' and now see a potential ride height problem, even at full extension (these like the Vmaxx appear to be designed to lower an MX5 when what I was really looking for was a good quality adjustable), so a chat with ProTech seems like good advice to me.
For the purpose of IVA, and required ride height for rear lights to comply, you might be better sticking with standard MX5 units.

Thanks both, not pulled the trigger yet as I wanted to wait for this type of valuable input. Unfortunately the standard shock got binned (they were really trashed). I will have a look into the protech units. Donor rebuild about to start once I get my subframes back from the shot blasters.
Engine rebuild done, will try and get some progress updates and photos done.
Cheers again

Long overdue update, will try and do better once I pick up my kit in next few weeks. So decided to strip the engine as I bought the donor from another MEV member that had bought a 2nd turboed donor. Despite assurances, as it wasn't running when I bought it I wanted check the condition while it was out of the car anyway. Good news is cylinder bores look excellent with faint honing marks still present. Cylinder head and block faces cleaned up and dead flat. Feeler gauged the cam followers and all bang on middle of tolerance. Rebuilt with new tensioners and oil seals throughout together with a nice lick of engine paint to keep with my proposed colour scheme. Got the Subframes and wishbones back from the shot blasters (Possil Park for those near Glasgow) They did a great job for a very good price (the before shot - really looked horrible but solid underneath) Untitled by Scott Graham, on Flickr Decided to go with paint rather than Powder Coating so have been painted with Por15 (shown) and now being top coated with Combi Colour RAL7038 to match the Chassis powder coat colour. Untitled by Scott Graham, on Flickr Diff and gearbox also with new seals. Ordering some bits and bobs (that'll be another £100 LOL) and wanted to check if both the lower and upper gearshift boot is required.
Both were totally perished/torn on mine, I know the lower is needed as it bolts on to the gearbox, but upper I think was bolted to MX5 trans tunnel ?
Trying to avoid several delivery charges, will include now if needed or have others mocked something up to suit custom transmission tunnels.

I would also use bolt down the upper boot and then cover it with a good looking boot and trim ring with its own bolts system. That way it will keep out water and noise..

Bit of progress made. Roller-skate finally together and can now have a bit of garage tidy up before my kit is ready. Was going to get either a new flywheel or have the current one skimmed but time pressure to get the car back together put that idea on the back burner. Longer term plans are to upgrade to a large capacity V6/V8 so no big loss. Rebuilt it with the existing clutch which looked very new. All new seals on engine, gearbox and diff, still to fit new cam belt etc, but that can be done as time allows. Untitled by Scott Graham, on Flickr Going to move my wheel dollies to under the subframes as the front frame drops at the back would drop the sump onto the front frame rail. Need to fit the brakes anyway so the new set-up will allow me to do that and keep the whole thing mobile as I reorganise the garage. Untitled by Scott Graham, on Flickr

Looking good. This was exactly where I had hoped to be this weekend, but ended up going off at a tangent figuring it would be easier to drill and fit the mudguard brackets (4 of my dust cover bolts sheered) with the knuckles on the bench rather than in position on the deck. Guide's not exactly helpful saying you just that you need a bolt 6mm longer than the donor, so it's back to searching for one long enough to sufficiently engage with the caliper - and buy some sharper drill bits!

Wey-hey, just got news from Stuart today that kit is ready for collection. I am working in Germany for couple of weeks so making arrangements is a bit more difficult but trying to sort out a Luton van (500 mile round trip) and hope to pick up early Dec. Feels like Christmas coming when I was age 5

Hi all, anybody know the approximate weight of Replicar shell and chassis ? Considering using a third party with Luton van but need some idea on weight for them to provide final price. Currently delivery estimates are less than 2 day hire cost.

Currently delivery estimates are less than 2 day hire cost. Mine's an Exocet and I hired my van from Hertz/B&Q or Costco by the hour. I'm pretty local to MEV, but might.give you an alternative idea of price

The body and chassis is less than 200kg so they will charge based on size. The only snag being that if they send a lorry we cannot lift it high. It needs 4 anyway to lift it into a Luton so we always ask those collecting to bring a mate along.
