I have only just managed to find 10 minutes to look at some of these, picked these 2 off in 5 minutes. I need to move some bits around to do the other ones so hopefully can trace them tomorrow night.
I really wouldn't stress about them too much. Its surprising how many are not needed.
Pretty sure I should be able to identify the rest fairly easily when I can find a half hour.
Cheers

These projects are promoted with a short build time. Part of the appeal, I guess. However, there's a big difference between build time, and the head-scratching time required before actually building something. I've had pretty good success on other projects, by putting whatever's got me stumped at the moment, aside for a couple of days. Sometimes a really good solution will just pop into your head. Hang in there.

Hang in there. I completely agree with this. In my case, "head-scratching" was probably close to 50% of my build...and it continues now that I'm forced to work on the engine. 25% was "changing my mind" and the remainder was actually doing things that worked out!

A few more days and we can get back into the garage and finish making our brackets and welding them up. Then the damn wiring loom.

Well that wasn't much fun, still drawing a blank on some of these remaining wires. Moving on to some welding now, just had enough of damn wires. And as for that damn air box and all its bits..................

What wiring parts are giving you a fit now.. Did you find all the connectors you posted before.. Not trying to be funny you aren't color blind are you for reading wire color.. I have seen that before.. What is problem with air box.. I would get it running then mod it.. Didn't pat out yet on the wiring..

Hi, are the wiring looms wildly different between mk1, mk2 and mk2.5?

Well I finally had a lot of joy on the wiring loom bits yesterday. Thanks to a lot of you on here with your replies and pictures, I now have a strimmed down loom that looks like this: I have 2 queries left on the loom and these are the white block that is at the back of the car with 2 wires in it and what to do with these wires that connect to the charcoal cannister thing? upload a pic on the internet

Wires for the charcoal canister are to control opening and closing the valve. If you're keeping the canister then you need to keep it. I don't know about the other connector.
Your loom it looking a lot like mine did at one point not very long ago. Don't wrap it anymore until you know everything is working otherwise you will waste a lot of tape, time, and self-patience. Careful with the computer resting unsecured on the frame like that. One big bump and you could be looking at a lot of money to get a replacement.

Thanks to many here, our wiring loom is sufficiently stripped now. Sadly, my broken hand has now got in the way of progress but we hope to get some easy earth points done and the fuel lines reconnected temporarily to see if it will start an run. We have pilot drilled most of the holes for the wiring loom clips, brake lines and so on and we need to make and weld on brackets for the power steering bottle and the coolant bottle. Then get the nose cone bracket in place and trail fitted. If all that goes to plan then it's save up for the trip to the powder coaters...................
