It looks like the engine is out of the car, the nose is sitting high and the drive shaft would normally bolt to the rear of the engine.

Hi Sid
Based near to Northwich, you are welcome round if you think my build can help. Send me a PM if interested.
No idea if mirrors will pass iva, might have to wrap them in foam on the day if they are an issue. I mounted high because mounting on the body can mean your rear view is just the wheel arch bulge which is an IVA fail. They also look good mounted this way.

Deliveries Going into storage for now but they look great. I have also reached the part of the year when trips are done, work and pleasure, so no excuses for not progressing the build. Just ordered loads of new fuel line, clips and connectors to address my occasional leak. I have fitted the Protech kit and it has really lifted the car. Even downloaded the IVA application to check over.

Mark, what make wrinkle paint did you use for your mirrors? I want to paint the dash and column shroud but the stuff I used several years ago by PJ1 Coatings doesn't seem to be available in the UK anymore. VHT do a wrinkle Plus paint but my concern is whether its a gloss finish or the desired satin finish I'm after. Your mirror stems appear to have a satin finish - hence my enquiry. Andy.

This is the stuff I used. I have previously coated an MGB dash using a different product which gave a really matt coat but doubt I have a can stored. The VHT does wrinkle very well.

I used that on my induction manifold (black) and cam cover (red) both are a satin finish, I bought mine with the appropriate primer and painted both on a hot summer day which seems to aid wrinkling (the paint not me).
I plan to use the black again on the vertical face of my dash and the donor plastic steering column shroud.

This has taken some working out, mostly because I don't know the correct names for the parts I want. Anyway I now have done a little re-design on the interior door handle, I like it.

Hope you don't mind, Mark - but I've copied your idea for the door release levers (at around £8 a pair on ebay it was silly not to!) Using the bell crank levers, retaining clips and cut-down rods from the donor's door locking mechanisms, this is the solution I came up with. The bell cranks were spot welded to spindles made out of 10mm round bar. The donor connecting rods were cut to length, re-bent and fitted to the bell crank and bear claw latches using the donor retaining clips. 16mm wavy washers were used to take up any play when the levers were mounted to the door pockets. The edges of the levers etc. will need radiussing for IVA and I will need to add an additional return spring to the other side of the bell crank but otherwise they work really well.

This is definitely a good solution to the door release, if there was ever to be a build manual written then this should be in it.

This is definitely a good solution to the door release, if there was ever to be a build manual written then this should be in it. I have a comprehensive photo-rich build blog for the demonstrator on my website which I update regularly ( along with an overview on my Fb page). Hopefully it gives good detail of all methods and solutions used during all aspects of the build. (The above door locking/release mechanism/solution will be included at the end of the month when adding July's updates.) I don't really want to produce a definitive instruction manual which must be strictly adhered to - as I feel that may lead to each completed car looking too uniform. In my opinion, kit cars should be an expression of the individual builders' personality and flair. Thus by having just a general guide and blog to help them, I hope builders are encouraged to add their own design to a given solution or to come up with a new idea themselves during their builds.
