Can't return as opened and used to find out they were the wrong things. Not expensive and still useful for removal of any clamp on pipes. Thanks for the pointer though, as you say just needed to know how the mechanism functioned. Now if only every single electrical connector did not attach in a different way this strip would be a lot faster. - Though TBH the daughter (9) and I are really enjoying it so no rush!

Just a quick update of erm.. well no problems really. Undid the dash and removed all the ventilation system. Pulled the boot, engine loom and the main loom (switched to using polyester labels on a sheet off ebay - indestructible and with a Sharpie, waterproof) all came back to the middle with no issues. ABS and brake cylinder came off without a drop spilled, as did clutch. Steering column all slid out nicely. Just the fuel tank, subframe bolts and a few other bits to do before lift off. Daughter and I are having fun taking it apart and we are in no rush!

Slight delay borrowing an engine hoist, but it arrived on Friday and the tub was off by Sat afternoon. No real issues, the back two bolts holding the fuel tank in were a pain but once off I could leave the tank on the skate and lift off the tub. Pulled off the fuel lines and the shock caps, in fact everything is stripped off it. Right outside my garage is a 30deg slope so I had to lift the skate to pass the hoist legs under it then tie it all down to stop a runaway, but it all went nice and safely and hopefully my customer still wants the tub.

Brilliant. We're at exactly the same point, as my body came off on Saturday afternoon too. I planning a fairly slow stripdown, clean and paint phase, with the kit being purchased towards the end of the year.

Sooo... PPF removal. The sleeve in the fwd of the 2 bolt holes does not have a thread in it so don't bother trying (Mk 2.5 and Mk I think). I followed someone on here's advice and having removed the bottom "spacer" I just used a slim pry bar to lever the bottom of the PPF out of the way and hit it up with a soft hammer - PPF off, top sleeve still in place. Not sure if this is the orthodox method but it sure beats crawling around on the floor! So is that a PPF on your subframe or are you just pleased to see me ....

Nice one. My PPF came off during the last week too. I just removed the nuts and bolts, wiggled a little and it all came apart nicely. The top hats on the rear bolts came off but look undamaged. As they are threaded, I can't see a problem with reuse?

So things have moved on nicely and the car is stripped down to it's component parts which all seem to be in good condition (needs a new clutch though) and even the rear hubs came apart nicely. Unfortunately post Stoneleigh I have decided not to build an Exocet after all, so if anyone is interested there will be a "donor on a pallet" kit available in the for sale section once I work out a rough idea of cost. I can ship on a pallet to most of the UK (assuming it all goes on 1 pallet!) for a reasonable price.
