Hey there,
Is there anything unique about the APR GTC-200 wing Exomotive sells? Every once in a while I see a deal on these wings on the interwebs, but not sure if the mounts will line up with the Exomotive wing mounts.

Per Kevin, at Exomotive, the ARP wing they sell is custom made for the Exocet. Don't remember where I read that, but I remember feeling badly for the guy who just bought a discounted wing online.

To expand upon this, I read somewhere that the mount width is custom for the Exocet. I think it might have been tehjeffman that adapted a different one to width? Might check his build thread.

tehjeffman had big issues when he adapted a different APR-200 to his Exocet. Stick to the one Exomotive sells, or find something else with a mount spacing of 37-39" (per Warren in the ginormous thread on GRM).

Just a heads up, these wings are built to order and generally not in stock. I had a 5 week wait for mine.

Looking around on Ebay for wings today and am very glad to have found this .. which led me to Jeff's post. I'm in the same position now .. I see the 'custom' wing on the Exo store for $900+ shipped to me. VS Miata wing on ebay for $680 shipped. A significant difference in price. Anyone know if there's a legit difference in these two wings other than mounting points ? Because it seems to me that Exomotive could have EASILY made the mount that would accomodate the off the shelf wing already made for their donor car ( a wing that many builders might already have ) but instead decided to go with a 'custom' wing. Kevin seems like a nice enough guy so I want to believe there's a performance reason or something more to justify the 'custom' wing other than just wanting another product to sell. That said. From looking at the way the current Exomotive wing mounts bolts up. It seems to me from the way they're designed, that simply by flipping the mount so they 'face in' rather than 'face out' ( bolt the right side mount on the left, the left side mount on the right ), enough distance would open up between them to POSSIBLY allow for the 1.75" wider Miata wing to mount directly. I can't test this myself right now since everything is at the powder coater, so am hoping someone can check the distance and measure both mounting method ?

I think the Exocet mounts were designed to take the Nascar COT wing, which were pretty readily available for $300 or so. Not anymore. COT wings are well designed wing and actually provide downforce with good aero engineering. The cheapest wings aren't necessarily much better than a towel bar. I'm not sure how to determine what's a good wing at a good price, which would be good to know since I'd like to buy another wing for the front of the car.

Where can you find COT wings for $300 ? I only have been seeing the ones on ebay for $800+. Seems the market caught on because some of them are advertised directly for exocets. Prices aside, Exomotive provides two version of their mount. One for COT and one for APR GTC200s. The picture above shows the GTC200 mount. You can see its mounting is different than the COT wing mount below.

Where can you find COT wings for $300 ? It's not likely you can, but you could when the Exocets were new. I think I paid $500 for mine a couple of years ago. I have a notification set on ebay and they seem to go for about $800. Even the "show wings" which aren't suitable for track use are expensive.

What's the bolt size and pitch for the wing mounts? I'm down to mounting my wing and now I can't for the life of me find any bolts for it in the hardware that Exomotive shipped to me and M6 seem the right side but the pitch of the bolts I have seems wrong.

I just checked mine and I believe they're actually 1/4" and not metric. I'll try to stop by and confirm that tomorrow at home depot. It came in a little baggie so perhaps you just misplaced yours. I know another member ( dietcoke iirc ) did drill and tap it to use bigger bolts ( M10 ? ). I was planning on doing the same thing to mount a tire rack back there.
That said I think a fabricator could sell quite a few wing mounts kit for current + future builders if they made one that could accomodate the Miata specific GTC wing.
