They used to be 1/4" but now they are metric 6 which is the next size up. The 1/4" bolts were too weak.

M6 is smaller than 1/4" (6.35mm).

On the subject of aerodynamics, it appears that some kit cars suffer from too much front down force and this factor is compensated for by fitting the front wings along way above the tyres to create lots of lift. The picture shows little winglets on the side so I assume these must make a difference. The exhaust position will not help air flow either, it probably stays very hot, slightly hazardous for your legs when climbing out, I prefer those MEV Exocets personally, 50-50 weight distribution and no need for cling film and antiseptic gel.

What's the bolt size and pitch for the wing mounts? I'm down to mounting my wing and now I can't for the life of me find any bolts for it in the hardware that Exomotive shipped to me and M6 seem the right side but the pitch of the bolts I have seems wrong. The original bolts are 1/4-20. Do not use those! Drill and retap it to M8, or there is a good chance you will lose your wing. Cables are strongly recommended, too. Exomotive is apparently going to fix this.

I just heard from Kevin. They're going to send out a kit to drill and for M8 bolts to customers who want to upgrade. I'm not going to wait.

I just checked mine and I believe they're actually 1/4" and not metric. I'll try to stop by and confirm that tomorrow at home depot. It came in a little baggie so perhaps you just misplaced yours. I know another member ( dietcoke iirc ) did drill and tap it to use bigger bolts ( M10 ? ). I was planning on doing the same thing to mount a tire rack back there. That said I think a fabricator could sell quite a few wing mounts kit for current + future builders if they made one that could accomodate the Miata specific GTC wing. Welp, I just drilled mine out and retapped for M8x1.25. Works like a champ. I'm starting to think of how add a trailer hitch to my Exocet using the lower sub-frame brace so that I can use a small track-trailer to haul tires, tools, and a cooler.
