Just wondering if it can be backed. Otherwise it'll be a problem in the parking lot.

We are currently building a tr1ke for a 78 year old guy who wants a reverse. so are installing one for him behind the passenger seat.
It's so incredibly light though (just over 300kgs) that it's very easy to push around. Even easier than a big bike in fact as there is no balance issue.
RTR team.

Thanks for the reply. Will the solution used for the other customer be offered as an optional accessory for the kit? I know that I'd sure like that as well.

What are you doing for reverse? Putting a starter motor in-line with the chain? I have seen that on a few bike powered cars.

That looks interesting I wonder if there's room in the kit for it.

After looking at that some more.......I think that's a Subaru starter.
All you might need is the reverse gear which appears to screw on to the output shaft in place of the nut and then an appropriate mounting plate.

I looked at this option a while ago, but after seeing the TR1KE 2 weeks ago, I suspect there is not enough workable room to mount it, as it comes in from the left and the rear part of the frame comes in at that point making it very tight to mount a suitable sturdy mount.

I just sent an email to them, asking for some pics of the thing mounted. I need a reverse because I'm missing one leg. Also thought about the Flintstone option, but that will be the last option I am going to install...

That looks like a proper solution! (The Flintstones solution is also not preferred by me.)

Instead of a gear at the primary drive maybe could use a second chain drive to another spot where a sproket and gear drive could sit and the starter drive it from there.

The point is that it is necessary to have the reverse gear in a neutral position when it is not activated. With a startermotor, which has a bendix, and a gearwheel on the primary shaft it will "disconnect" itself when deactivated. I think it will be difficult to create something with an extra drive chain and sprocket...

My opinion is that this is a relevant option for RTR to offer, when ordering a Tr1ke. So RTR can check if the items works.

I think you might find there is not enough room to mount this as an option on the TR1KE, because the rear part of the frame comes in at that point, I had looked at LYNX before, and they sent me these pics, but when I was down at RTR looking at the trike with there custom reverse, there appeared to be not enough room to mount this unit onto a substantial mounting plate, in my opinion, this is one of the better options, but the room to fit it will be the problem.
I will defo be making some sort of reverse option for mine. And I will post the ideas and pics on my website.
