My local metal merchant has already had two mx5 shells from me, I just drive in and on to the scales, a big crane grabs the shell and back on the scales to work out the weight. I am already registered with them so they give me a printout for how much cash will be sent to my account. You don't get much as it is mixed scrap but it helps getting the money back from buying the donor. I don't take any identifying marks off the car. The V5 I keep for when I register the new car. As suggested earlier I would ring round, My place are metal dealers not specifically car scrappers.

I had to pay £20 to get my shell collected but saved me a lot of hassle, amazing how prices of scrap have changed.

Managed to get rid of it, had to get it on a trailer and take it myself, once unloaded they then realised the chassis number had been cut out and said they wouldn't be able to accept it, once I explained to them what I was doing and the fact that I was not scrapping the car just disposing of body parts they reluctantly kept it, effectively cost me £27 as hired a trailer for £40 and they gave me £12.80 for the scrap!

Getting a bit ahead of myself but looking at boot/door hinges, know Stuart used Mini ones but the only ones I can find aren't really chrome (who doesn't like shiny!), I like these and they are considerably cheaper but would there be any IVA issues with not being completely smooth?

Just been reading the manual (system down at work!)
9. Handles, hinges, push buttons, and fuel tank filler caps must not protrude more than 50mm from the external surface if the component does not project beyond the extreme outer edge of the vehicle. This is reduced to 40mm in all other cases.
So look ok? Need a nap now!

Post edited - re hinges if they know they IVA safe they will often say could a pair of chrome ones that are IVA ok be scuffed up a bit maybe ?
I'm not looking forward to the door hinges and locks part of the build.

If it doesn't appear finished they may fail you under general construction rules.
Please remember that these forums can be and are frequented by Iva inspectors.

Gents, how much movement should there be in the diff bushes? They look ok, but when I put the subframe on and tighten up the nuts the subframe does rock, whilst I would certainly expect to see some movement it seems like quite a bit,
