Not as much done today as I would have liked but I did get front brakes installed, front fender mounts, and sorta got the front wheels on. Fender mounts seriously interfere and will need quite a bit of bending in two directions: in toward chassis and then bend top down toward tire to provide stable flat surface for fender. I'm not a strong guy so I'll need to get creative for the bending. Misplaced most of my axle nuts...they're in the garage someplace... The differential washers are in fairly bad shape (one is starting to separate). How important is it to replace them?

Long day in the garage. I got the rollerskate back in "one piece". Along the way I figured out why my fender mounts were rubbing so hard against the wheels; it's a "duh" answer. My donor came with wider than stock wheels. The donor also came with a stock set, but they don't over the new calipers. I'll have to get some spacers. For now, the mounts are off so I avoid whacking my knees and I can move the skate around. Calipers are installed, including e-brake for the rear. I haven't run the lines yet as I still need to fully test fit the chassis and the skate and I figure it's easier to keep them out of the way. Since I will be running fenders, I replaced each of the top caliper mount M10x1.5x 35mm bolts with 40 mm bolts (I actually bought 60mm, because they were available locally and then cut them down). The Wilwood kit for the rear brakes didn't come with it's own spacers to align the calipers evenly, but I had plenty left over from the front to get the rear done as well. None of the suspension is torqued down yet as I figure I'll need a little wiggle room to get everything to line up. Obligatory pictures. This is the first time all four wheels have been attached since I started the tear down so it feels like a big day. The dolly in the pic above snapped under the weight of the engine + transmission. I guess those cheap Harbor Freight dollies cannot hold 1000 lbs after all! Once I've tested the full skate on against the frame, and made the necessary adjustments and brackets, I'll get the frame out for powdercoating. I'll also be able to order my fuel cell as I'll determine those dimensions during the test fit as well.

I modified the non-fitting Corbeau flat seat brackets that I bought with my seats. I cut out the middle of the lower front cross bar, added 3/16" thick steel bars with enough length to install correctly, and front and rear vertical support for extra piece of mind. This is only the second time I've welded so I'm not going to win any contests, but they hold strong. I may need to remove the middle of the upper front (where the Corbeau labels currently are) to allow for clearance of the center harness strap.

Lots of "historical" info on this forum about wheel selection / offset / size that will work with the Exomotive fender mounts. Long story short, 0 offset wheels (standard Miata wheels are 32mm offset if my crappy memory is correct), 8" wide, 205 width tires, 5mm spacers (rear), no spacers (front) works. Allegedly - as I have not fitted my fenders yet.

Got my modified seat brackets installed today. The seats fit great and I get the full range of the slider. Headroom is good for me (I'm 5'8"). I haven't installed pedals yet, but I'm already expecting that I'll need to have the sliders a bit forward when I'm driving.
The Corbeau sliders came with M6 hardware to mount to the brackets which seems small to me so I trim the edges off some grade 8 M8 flange bolts so they would fit inside the slider to replace the original hardware. Unfortunately, this currently only works for the front bolts as there's no clearance in the rear to attach a larger nut without notching the bracket in the back which I'm certain will weaken it without adding new support. I may try notching and welding a small plate in a way to allow clearance. I'll check it tomorrow.

After about a week of looking at 15x7 and 15x8 zero offset wheels I figure I'd try a different route. I picked up a pair of 32mm wheel spacers for $50 to see if this would solve my spacing issue and it does, with 5-10mm to spare. The spacers each weight just under 2.5 lbs, coupled with my 13.5 lb wheels this is not ideal, but they fit much better in my budget.

Could you post a link or info on the spacers? I've got two sets of Miata wheels that I could interchange with the Exocet with decent/cheap spacers. Thx.
