Hi Guys!
Yes, Im too stoked to function haha. I remember about 7 months ago I was standing in steadfast's garage trying to decide if I should pull the trigger and put my reservation in. Im so glad that I did! Both those lumps are headed my way so they are indeed caught up. The frame is coming to me unpowdercoated, but as soon as I pick it up I will be dropping it off at santa clara powdercoating to do the frame in neon green.

Hey Colin,
Yes! I got my frame and its powdercoated in neon green glory! I'm due for a serious update soon, but have been taking tons of pictures. I will post an update in a couple of weeks once the engine rebuild is completed. Also, if you need a hand to help wrench; im down!
Happy Holidays! Luke

Agreed, there are a couple people in the bay that have Exocets in the 'build' process. We should just rotate all together and get everyone up and running.

Okay Guys, I am having some annoying issues that are keeping me from getting on the road. I am having an issue getting the engine running which is why I have not been moving forward on the project. Issue: Engine cranks, getting fuel, air, and spark, but will not start. It wants to though you can tell as it is fumbling while cranking. Variables I've checked. 1. Wiring Harness completely gone through and checked continuity. No problems there. 2. Did obd1 diagnostic check, gave error 26 (26 Solenoid valve (Evaporative canister purge. No important in this case as smog equipment has been removed. 3. Fuel supply is reaching fuel rail nice and strong. 4. Spark has been checked and am getting spark from all spark plug wires. 5. Adjusted Cam Position Sensor but that only changed how it is cranking over but doesnt crank. My current though:Leads me to believe the timing belt is incorrectly placed. What are your thoughts my friends. Id REALLY like to be on the end of the road by the end of the month. If you want to join for some wrenching to figure out the issue I will supply Beer and Pizza and Beer naturally. haha Let me know

You do have the fuel supply hooked to the front of the fuel rail right.. You can hear the injectors clicking while trying to start. long screwdriver to ear..check all. Check cam timing. # 1 up use dip stick to make sure it is at TDC.. cam gears on marks. front lobes pointing out to side.. 19 teeth BETWEEN the dots on cam gears.. AFM plugged in.. Plug wire in right order looking from front of engine(1.6) 3.2.1.4

Did you check that fuel is actually being injected into the engine or just that it is reaching the fuel rail. I had the two lines hooked up backwards into the rail so fuel was reaching the rail but not getting through the one way valve. (Send and return lines switched) I also had problems with grounding of the ECU, I thought I had double checked this but I had missed one.

Thanks for your input gwnwar and colin Here are the answers your questions: 1. yes, I made sure I had the fuel lines hooked up, however I can admit at one point they were backwards haha. 2. I can keep looking for a ground, but I'm pretty confident I didn't miss any. 3. Yes the plug wires are in correct order. 4. Have not rechecked the timing belt yet, this is what i will be doing this week after work to check my work. (im hoping this is the issue)

We turned our motor over without plugs to generate some oil pressure and get things lubricated before trying to start it because the motor had been apart. Without plugs you can see and smell gas when you turn it over (was surprised to see that) and that's positive confirmation you have gas getting into the cylinders. If that's good, and you've done the tongue test for spark, I'd revisit the cam timing.
I'm pretty sure that you need to disconnect the coils when you run without plugs to avoid wrecking them.
