Hey gwnwar,
Sorry I havent responded to your shipping inquiry for the parts we talked about, i've been quite busy and have had zero time to even go in my garage for the past few weeks. I will have some time this weekend maybe to pull those parts out and off to the side to ship to you.
Cheers, Luke

Happy Friday all : ) Haven't been able to work on the Exocet too much lately as I was mega busy and also messed up my leg; all better now. Yey! The build has now at the point where I turned to HF and bought a sweet new shop hoist and load balencer. I've pulled the engine and put it on the engine stand for me to get together with my pops and rebuild that bad boy with the FM rebuild kit. We are also going to hone and rering the engine, and replace the clutch and flywhile while it's out. yummm FM Happymeal! While the engine is off the front subframe im also going to refurbish all metal like i did in the rear with a good 3 step POR-15 process so it looks brand new. Im debating if I want to get into replacing the bushings while it's all apart but dont know if i need to the bushings seem fine as this was a california car. Cheers! Luke

Replace the bushing while it is easy, I didn't and now have to do anyway as it turned out that rubber wears with time too, even on californian cars.

Be REALLY careful if you plan on removing your injectors with the securing tabs on the wire to each injector. Might have been heat cycles or just the ravages of time, but on mine, three of the four tabs broke off, so I had to replace all of the connectors. If you run into this, and feel like splicing on new connectors, Miata Mike (google him) has replacement ends for a pretty fair price.

I ended up putting zip ties around the connector to hold it down. Ghetto, but it has held up for 5 years.

In this case, since I sent the injectors out to be cleaned anyway, I thought it worth the effort to have connectors refurbished also. Just hope I got all four of the replacement connector's polarity correct (if it makes any difference) !!

Looks like you're making great progress! I just got the body separated and the engine up on a stand this weekend. I ordered a re-build kit ('97) from FM and they said the main bearings are backordered 2-3 months unless I want to line bore the engine and get the oversized ones. Who are you going to for the machine shop work?

Hey Colin,
Yikes I haven't ordered my rebuild kit yet, im waiting to hear back from the machine shop that is mic'ing it ensure that everything is still considered Standard. Bummer that the main bearings are that far back of backorder, can we get them anywhere else?! nuts... My machine shop is Clarks automotive and machine shop in Cupertino. Decent prices and my pop's had work done there before. Wow congrats on getting the body separated and engine up! That's a HUGE step and a pain in the ass one to boot. haha. Want to have a meet up soon? We should get a few of us finished and unfinished to meet for an exocet cars and coffee soon in the bay area. Talk build process and whatever.
