The coolant junction pipe needed replacing on my Exocet. A few months ago I noticed a leak from where the little tube that feeds the rubber thermostat line connects. It had gotten badly rusted. Anyway, today I swapped it out with another pipe. I ended up drilling and tapping 1/8 NPT in it to mount my new coolant temperature sensor. I was planning on mounting this new sensor at the back of the engine, where the stock one goes, but couldn't get the old one out... the head is completely rounded and it isn't easy to get at. Also, the Miata is drilled for BSPT, not NPT. Even though they are very close, I thought it better to mount my Speedhut sensor using the proper thread somewhere else. Granted, the coolant junction is not as ideal a location to measure as the back of the block, but I think it will do. I enjoy seeing true coolant temp and true oil pressure now! I am going to try and reuse the Miata fuel gauge. I plan on mounting that, with a voltmeter and USB charger, on another small dash panel.

I spent so much on these gauges already, I am trying to avoid more, but yeah, that is an option. Alternatively, I could make one out of a arduino or something...
I have the 4 'main' gauges on my cluster (tach, speed, temp, pressure). I can print something to make the other small panel look good.

Made a secondary small panel for voltage and fuel. excuse the brightness of this photo...

Ha ... same place I put a panel for my hazard switch! Bummer is that I cannot even come close to reaching it when belted in. I'm gonna need to re-think that, and my LED driving light switch location (also unreachable when belted in). Sport of makes me wish I had an inertia reel setup for the shoulder belts during street use.

I put hazards and horn on the front bottom. sides of the instrument cluster shroud, easy to press just behind
the steering wheel.

I already have horn button and wired on the steering wheel where it is intended to go. I may add the flasher button and just tuck it up in the harness area if I need it.

Updates. Got a cool quick release fire extinguisher mount. Started the process of replacing the wheel bearings and hubs with timken products. Also got ARP wheel studs. I do not have a real press, so I tried to use my vice to press the new studs in. That only half worked, and I kind of messed up my vice in the process. I ended up tapping the studs all the way in from the back. This probably isn't the best method, so I ordered a ball joint press to help with the others. I also am installing the fender mounts while I am at it.

A sacrificial nut, two washers, and an impact will pull the studs on.

ARP state specifically not to do that. Not sure why (maybe over torque risk?).
Granted, they also say not to hammer them in from the back.

I got sick of looking at all the wiring with the hood off. I got a cheap place of plastic and cut it to fit over the top of the dash area . looks a lot cleaner.

I think I saw it also on blackbox's car, and thought it was a fantasic idea. Where did you pick the plastic up at?
