They are the 530s. Not the lightest wheel out there, but they get the job done. I wish I had weighed them before mounting tires. I'm curious if the rota grids are any lighter or if there aren't any good options until much higher dollar ranges..

Clean Build, and im loving the color scheme! Also congrats on getting ABS setup! Im working on doing the same currently. Do you by any chance have any photos of how you mounted it? It sounds like im going to go along the same path as you on my build. Thanks in advance! Rosaki, I'll have to get pics next time I'm at the car. Used a few 1 3/4" clamps to attach the abs brackets to a few large tubes and a 1" or 3/4" to get a third mounting point on a small one. While block is located on the firewall on the passenger side.

Today was a big milestone - I submitted the registration application for the Exocet. With that in the system it's time for some updates... FM intercooler mounts - I used some heavy duty steel L brackets from home depot on the top cross-bar in front of the radiator. One of the things I'm most stoked on with this build is how the gas fill came out. It was a complete PITA to install, but worth it in the end. It now has all six bolts in... The difficulty with the top mount plane style fills and the tight packaging under the rear bodywork is that with stiff fuel lines you have to attach the fuel lines in place - meaning get the body work in place and reach up from under the car to tighten the clamps on the fill line and vent line. I used RTV to attach nuts to the bottom of the bodywork to make it a bit easier to install the fill.

I've posted this on Facebook, but not here yet. I spent a bunch of time cutting out a center console for extra gauges and the EDFC controller. I finally got around to installing an oil temp gauge sensor when I did an oil change. I'm not sure what temps I will see on track, so will see how hot it gets and do an oil cooler if needed. The only question I have is where to mount the thing where it would actually get air flow...

What are the specs on that filler? Looks very nice. Have you tested filling with it yet to see if you have slow fill issues like others have experienced?

Of all the things associated with my build, the fuel filler was by far the biggest PITA !! Sounds like your experience is in line with mine.
where is your voltage gauge wired into?

BoilerAlum, Thanks! It is from monstermarine.com. They have a bunch of colors of fills and marine style vents. I originally ordered a blue vent, but the color didn't really match the fill so I ended up returning it. Great folks to work with, very nice products. I've only filled with a gas can so far, so is is still a TBD at the pump. I'll be sure to report back. I went through a number of sources to piece the setup together, if it works well I'll make a detailed post for it.
Einy, fuel fill we a PITA.. but worth it in the end. The Sparco unit I've seen looks like you can just set up the cap in what looks like a bowl, then attach that to the pretty outer cover. Not quite as elegant, but would be WAY easier to install.
The voltage gauge and USB ports are both wired into what used to be the cigarette lighter. They come on in the accessory position, I figure this would be good for charging my phone at the track (harry's laptimer sucks battery). So far it has been more useful to just keep an eye on battery voltage with the car sitting in the garage and being run infrequently.
I need to pull all the weather covers off the gauges and set them to a common color, probably a bright blue that will stand out against the red warning lights. Always another detail...

Where did u source the voltage gauge from? I need one for the same reason. While I am asking, same question for the USB ports.
Thanks in advance !

A few weeks ago I submitted my registration application, and today I feel like I've been punched in the throat.. A year ago I spoke with the guy who runs the specially constructed vehicle process in Illinois and made damn sure I would be able to register the Exocet. Today I got a rejection call. It needs some additional equipment because it didn't have the following or an frame from a NHTSA approved manufacturer, thus rendering the Exocet an offroad only vehicle due to the frame. Missing equipment cited; 1. Windshield & wipers (the latter not a documented IL requirement) 2. Bumpers ( This has just as much of a bumper as my Corvette - fiberglass over metal) 3. Fenders 4. "Side body work" - seems they don't like the half covered frame. 5. Headlights - despite the fact I have them 6. Brake lights - despite the fact i have them 7. Turn signals - despite the fact I have them All of the hardware would be relatively easy fixes, however the hurdle I am not yet sure of is formal confirmation from Exomotive that the frame meets NTHSA standards. This is an undocumented requirement that they threw at me today. Per their process, no offroad content can be added to a vehicle intended for road use. Because Exomotive isn't listed as a certified manufacturer per NHTSA, they require a formal statement that standards are met. I have a voicemail and Email into Kevin about this, I'll post an update tomorrow. Apparently mine was the first Exocet submitted for registration in IL, so they did some internet research and due to Exomotive not being listed as an NHTSA approved / certified manufacturer it was an automatic no-go for on-road use. My two points of hope; 1. That Kevin tells me they are in compliance with the NHTSA standards and agrees to write a formal statement to that effect that I can give the DMV. 2. The kit car & replica legislation from last December renders Exomotive exempt from NHTSA requirements as they produce fewer than 350 vehicles per year. I need to dig into this to see what the exact implications are. Apparently others such as factory five are approved manufacturers and can be registered in IL because of this. I feel completely deflated right now, I'm hoping to hear good news from Kevin tomorrow on meeting whatever standards apply to kit cars, which may actually be none, otherwise I have a very expensive unusable car sitting in a rented garage...

Ouch, and it's made worse because they moved the goalposts on you.

That sucks Josh. There may be some way to get it registered but it may take more effort and or creative methods. Obviously waiting to hear from Kevin and your other contacts would be the easiest start. Some options I can think of off the top of my head are....
Add the items they listed that you don't already have and try again maybe with extra pictures of the lights and such that they missed pointed out in the photos.
See what process/paperwork is needed for a true home built car as if you built it from scratch. If there is a process to register these type of builds that may be an option.
Consider registering it as an antique replica like a Lotus 7 as mentioned in another thread/post and go that route.
See about registering it in another state via one of the processes. I know Michigan is not very challenging as I helped Jon get his inspection done. There are Exocets registered in OH and IN which may smooth the process if you have family or friends in one of those neighboring states.
Last way I can think of that may work is to register it as a Miata using your donor VIN and information and go through the process of VIN plate re-assignment or change. I did this years ago in Michigan when replacing a rusty dash where the VIN was. All it took was a paper form and signed verification by a police officer then submitting the form.
Lastly consider contacting your representative and various supervisors at the DMV that may be more open or experienced in this process. ALso contact SEMA and see if they have any information or clarification on the recent legislation or pending legislation. I am pretty sure that was for kits that were clones or replicas of other cars and maybe 25 years or older.
Best of luck.
