Hi IC, I'm placing my Exocet order this week. I appreciate this series of posts..well done. I'll be sure to add any other gotchas I encounter. Curious..are the headlights from Exomotive? Curious what s/n they are up to now ... Let us know when you put your order in! Not advocating, just saying, if you order thru FM, you get their power club 5% discount for the next year.

Too late, I already bought direct from Exomotive. Met Kevin at the Caffeine and Octane last weekend and placed my order on the spot. Haven't received my S/N yet. Will post in my profile as soon as I get it.
Bought a 95 donor car last week in BHam that had a blown head gasket (supposedly), for $1000. I'll get it running first. If it turns out good, I might keep the 95 as a daily driver as it has AC, cruise, pw, etc., and use my 94 R as the donor car. (The 94 has no AC, PS or power creature comforts, so it should take less time to dismantle)
Exomotive is running about 22 wks for delivery..so I have all summer to get the roller cleaned up and ready.

Plus 1 don't tear apart the R.. there weren't many made.. You could sell it for good money or trade it for a good donor and money.

I'll trade you my 97 with 66k for that R. Seriously.

Several reason's why I wanted to use the R. I'll
1) Manual steering..no conversion needed 2) torsen 3) suspension
Are these the only items that are different on the R? (aside from the spoilers)
If there's that much demand, I could consider selling the R and using the funds for another donor car. The body has a little rust starting in the rocker near the rear wheel. The interior is good and I was going to replace the ratty one in the 95 I bought. (Again, thinking of keeping the 95 as it has all the creature comforts - would love to have AC available for those hot rainy Atlanta days sitting in traffic)

Swapping in AC really isn't too tough. If you're building an Exocet, you're more than capable. You could do the windows and cruise too if you wanted. Regarding steering, I'll sell you a manual rack if you want one. If your 95 has all of those items, it almost definitely has a Torsen. So you're really down to suspension. Which you'll change anyway so just buy what you want now .

So the suggestion is that I use the 95 as the donor (after validating it has a Torsen) and swap the good bits (AC etc) onto my R. Hmm..

That's what I'd do. After starting your own thread so we can stop mucking up IC's . Also, call Mazda, they'll tell you whether or not it has a Torsen. Or if you want, unbolt the stub axle, pop it out, and have a look.
