So it seems that the hazard and turn signal circuits use different filaments in the turn signal bulb. My new turn signals are single filament any ideas how to make this work? Do I need to add another bulb, find a new turn signal, combine the wires, or just lose the hazard function?

I ended up using the stock hazard switch to keep the hazard function. That switch does so much.

I must have been tired last night. The green with black or white stripe wires connect to the hazard and blinker system the other filament is used for the parking lights. Good bye red and black wires. We don't need no stinking parking lights. I tried floating the ground on the parking lights but it caused all kinds of funny business in the headlights.
Top Tip: If you are using the Dominator 2.0 lights. You have to isolate them from ground or you will instantly blow the headlight fuse and they will light up dimly or not at all depending if you blew both sides or not.

Can you clarify on isolating from ground?

Can you clarify on isolating from ground? I think he means give the lights their own ground.

I'm more curious how the OP did it on his, I have the Dominator 2.0's and they have an H4 hookup so I'm curious if he changed that out or did it some other way.

Mazda wired the headlights by running power to them through the headlight relay and then using the switch to complete the circuit to ground. Unfortunately in the dominator the bulbs are not isolated from the housing and can ground out through the housing instead of the switch. This causes a dead short and blows the headlight fuses. I did use the H4 hookup and you can just plug them in and they will work as long as the housing is not grounded.

Got it, that was my question, if you were just isolating the housing from the chassis ground. Thanks for the clarification.

Thank you for the heads up!

Getting closer! The front end wiring is buttoned up. I borrowed JIDiesels horn setup because, red, and small car, loud horn seems like a good idea. Headlights and turn signals are done. I am waiting on a couple of relays so that I can wire up the rear turn signal/brake/tail/backup lights. I still need to make a panel or something to stick back there until some future date when the bodywork is done. Battery is installed and hooked up . I ended up using the same grommet that I used on the proportioning valve to run the cables through the bulkhead. Now I have to do some sort of homemade alignment just to get it good enough to drive the 5-6 miles to the shop and have it done for real. After that and the taillights I think I am really close to taking it on its first drive. Oh, and double check that all the nuts and bolts are tight and torqued. That's probably important.

It feels like it is taking forever...
I ordered the chassis and bought the donor in August. Started stripping it down at the end of October and picked up the chassis just after the first of the year. So I guess I am 5 months in with three of that working on the rebuild.

What are you doing for tail lights and rear signals? I am using a universal Jeep style tail light and am running into some issues with the combined bulb for turn and brake where the Miata has one wire for each.

I am using a universal Jeep style tail light and am running into some issues with the combined bulb for turn and brake where the Miata has one wire for each. My lights have the same problem. My plan was to install a relay in-line but, in explaining it here I realize it may not work. The relay will be here tomorrow and I can test it out. I will let you know what I find out. Keith Tanner said this :"We've got the wiring to convert the Miata to two-filament operation" on the GRM site near the middle of the page. So I may have to talk to him to get it figured out.
