Just installed the catted Enthuzacar exhaust. Not sure if a plug was included (since the box had a gaping hole; thanks UPS), but I ended up welding the secondary 02 bung shut. Also, one of the muffler hangers was bent about 20 degrees... easily enough fixed.
The volume and tone is perfect, and the fit is great. I can feel slightly diminished acceleration, but it is definitely worth it for a street car.

Guess you'll have to get a turbo next...

Guess you'll have to get a turbo next... No doubt. I now get how the chassis can handle so much power. The rear end breaks loose and regains traction without any snappiness. So predictable and fun

In order to gain legroom (move the pedals forward), I made a different throttle cable stay. Now the throttle pedal down limit bolt is fully loose (WOT is reached just as it touches). The up limit rubber snubber is now replaced with a 6mm bolt (required enlarging the hole). The brake pedal resting position was moved the same amount, requiring the light switch lock nut to be relocated to the other (forward) side of the threaded portion. Both pedals rest about an inch farther forward, and the driver's seat is moved up accordingly. The new seating position with the steering wheel closer is much better IMO.

Mercury finally agreed to insure it. Tuesday is the BAR inspection. (I will fail no doubt, but it will at least give an idea of what I need). Decided to take her out and get a feel for the handling:

We just had an Exocet in the bay two weeks ago pass BAR with no bodywork. The only thing they were looking for was the PCV valve.

So, how many "what the ___ ?" looks did you get on that ride?

So, how many "what the ___ ?" looks did you get on that ride? I'm glad you brought that up. I chose this color to catch the attention of inattentive (and frequently uninsured) motorists in SoCal. 1. Going to the gas station is like being hounded by the paparazzi. 2. People at stop signs insist I go first, regardless of whose turn it is. 3. Rubberneckers don't notice the light has turned green and drive very slow. 4. Tons of thumbs up All the attention on top of the sensory assault, getting used to the handling, still making minor adjustments, and how fast it is, adds up to an incredibly intense automotive experience

Passed the BAR inspection. The way it was explained to me, the windshield requirement is only enforced if you are trying to register something crazy like a dune buggy.
Now the brake and light inspection, and go pick up license plates!

Didn't like my original rear mirror solution (it was too low and the plastic mirror was wavy). Bit the bullet and got a SPA center post one with glass: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sports-Car-Mirror-Convex-SPA-Design-SCCB-1-center-post-mount-/300875347771The single-strap clamps have a bit of wiggle, so I got a dual strap one for a dune buggy antenna. Machined an aluminum center post so it press-fit into the mount, and tapped it for a 6mm bolt. Cut off the original post, and tapped the threaded portion for a 6mm bolt to screw into the aluminum post. Mounted it a bit off center to give it a clearer view aft. The result is much better rearward visibility.
