Okay I think I know how I can do this. Unfortunately it means I wasted $$ on those stock hoses and wasted time powder coating that manifold.... But there won't be any over heating issues.
The M-Tuned rear head water housing has ports for both the heater core and an extra line for the turbo. The heater core hard line that runs under the exhaust manifold can be routed to this new housing for coolant flow when the thermostat (now mounted on tbe rear side of the head$ is closed.
The extra nipple (hopefully it points towards the divers side) can route to the turbo and the nipple on the water pump can be the feed line for the turbo.
I can block off the front housing with just a simple freeze plug.
The oil cooler will need to be swapped out for one with AN fittings which will run to an air cooler which I will mount in front of the steering rack.
In my head, this all should work.... :dunce:

The coolant reroute kit is a bit expensive for what it is.
That said, coolant to oil heat exchangers have 2 advantages: Oil is brought up to operating temp faster. No need for a thermostatic plate or worry about overcooling the oil.
Any word on the effectiveness of the stock cooler?

Not too much done today but I got the tasks done that I was dreading. Start off, the new alternator, starter, clutch slave and lower plenum mount came to hang out. Welcoming their return. Next I put the front arms and knuckles back on. One of the upper arms I bought used had messed up ball joint threads. Took some time to retap and repair that. Then game the gruesomely tedious task of retapping all the screws for the baffles and resealing them. The thread pitch is M4x.7 and thankfully Mazda engineered the valve cover with deeper holes than screws for easy repair. 2.5 hours worth of work but worth all the effort! Does your powder coater go to this kind of effort??

In the process of powder coating the intake plenum. It's quite a complex piece. Got the upper piece and the throttle body done today. When I bought the DD miata, the dealer promised me new emblems. They finally got me 2 of the 4. So I powder coated them too. Getting close to being finished for the winter. Torsen should be here Tuesday and I want to get the casing coated and bushings swapped out. After the diff is finished I can reassemble the rear and I will have a roller skate. After that, I need to build a roll cart for the shell of the donor miata and get the rest of the wiring out. Will be putting it on Craigslist soon.

Looking good man. I'm in the middle of my build. My last day home we were able to get the roller skate completely seperate from the shell of the donor. When I get back in 3 weeks, I'll probably do a lot of powder coating work like you have recently. And all of your pics are really helping out! Thanks!

Stopping work for the winter.. Insulate the walls and roof and doors and put in a gas heater with tank outside and a fans to move the heat around. Got 2 in my 75x45 15ft ceiling shop and it will stay at 65 plus in 0 weather in Arkansas.. It give you a place to go when cabin fever sets in..

More progress tonight. Got the rest of the intake plenum powder coated. Have to buy all new hoses though. These are all dried and the one for the PCV is split. To install/remove the plenum you have to do it in two parts because of the fuel rail. There's no space to get at everything while its all installed. Something else that was dried and broken was the injector harness cover/mount plastic. Looked everywhere and no one sells just this piece. I have to replace the whole harness! Not worth it. Quality electrical tape will do fine. ...and all back together! EGR block off plates installed too. One last task done was getting the stock fuel/ brake/clutch lines out. Actually got them all out as one assembly and didn't bend any of them! Thinking maybe I can use most of them on the Exocet. They are still in perfect shape. One last detail is the 3.9 showed up. Came off a southern car so it was easy to clean the casing. I'm going to work on the mount tomorrow. Get it powder coated and new bushings. New axle seals will hopefully be in too. That reminds me. My new timing belt covers never showed up...

Last nice day for the year. The goal was to have a roller skate to matter what! Start off with this amount of ugly. Its the diff cover/mount. Something about caked on smelly gear oil that just makes you feel like a man.... Start off with getting the bushings out. This didn't work.... Fine it wants to fight. Let's fight! Bring out the air-hammer! You lose! Didn't know who it was messing with.... Anyway next step is degreasing and bead blasting. Then coating. Feels like Christmas around here. Let the reassembly begin! New brake rotors came in today too so they got to show off. It's almost like staring at your girlfriend naked for the first time.

Think your rear axle casing looks the business, very visible on a Exocet so well with doing.
