use lots of water proof grease..Don't do a final tightening till you have full weight of car on the ground..

You can put a jack under each corner with wheel off..(with shock in place)so you have weight and bushings are in there starting position and not bound up..

What was the easiest way to get the bushes out? This is my next job and was unsure on the best way.

They can be a bugger to remove, ideally a hydraulic press. Failing that a large G clamp might work or in a vice with two different sized sockets. I think most people revert to burning them out. Avoid breathing in the smoke it's not nice stuff.
I used an oxy acetylene torch on mine. Heated them up, the small bushes then just fell out. The larger ones I pressed out in a vice. It was a messy job and I was glad once it was finished.

I burnt mine out using a bog standard gas torch; there are pictures in my thread. I actually found it good fun. However, I have since seen reports somewhere (maybe the MX5OC forum) that putting the components in the freezer for 24 hours allows them to be pushed out in a vice, reasonably easily. I'm sure your tolerant wife will not object - she obviously doesn't object to you using the living room carpet in the garage.

Am looking forward to seeing your progress on the bushes as this'll give me good insight when I do mine (next couple of weeks) Keep the progress coming!! All bushes are coming out without a problem so far. I have been using a small canister blow torch I have and heating the metalwork up around the bush until I can hear sizzling(for want of a better word!). They they either sometimes start to slide out themsleves with little help or with some encouragement with a mallet and one of my socket extension bars! On too the rear chassis and some of the nuts are so correded on that a few bolts just snapped off. Never mind. What have other people done when splitting the rear driveshafts?? Have you split at he wheel end or the differential end? Or did you just go for broke and split it up everywhere!!!!!
