Tomorrow morning I head to the DMV to being the process of making my Exocet road legal. This is similar to the IVA process the UK folks go through. This process is known in California as the SB100 process. It is a 3 stage process. The first step is the DMV and doing all of the paperwork, and paying taxes. Sounds easy, but it all depends on who you get at the DMV (from what I'm told). I have all my ducks in a row, I hope they are impressed with my organizational skills:

So I went to the DMV today. Had an appointment for 9:15am. Showed up at 9:00am got my number and made my way to my seat. Before I had a chance to sit down, they called my number. I went to a young girl that was working behind the counter, and told her I wanted to to register a specially constructed vehicle under the SB100. She looked at me with a dumfounded stare. She tried to push some buttons into the computer and then called over her boss. The boss walked over, said "so you wanna register a kit car?" I said "yes ma'am." She said that she was very up to date on the process. This was a huge weight off my back. The paperwork was started and they had to call the mother office for a SB100 number. The problem was the mother office didn't answer their phone for a long time. Long story short, I got all paperwork needed, and a 60 day temp tag. YIPPY. Stage 1 complete. I rushed home, attached my 60day tag to the car and went out for a spin. First stop was to get it aligned: I then came home to install my new side mirrors: And that completes my day!

This means that they will have the first set off the molds very soon (for their car XP3). I hope I can get my bodywork inhouse before my temp tags expire!

Congrats on the registration! Any idea when we might see some new style body panels fitted? The new composites shop is basically done and Warren is working on shaping the final bucks now. This has definitely taken longer than originally planned, but we are very happy with how things are turning out from a quality and fit perspective. Also, the new CNC-bent laser cut bodywork mounts are going to make installation a breeze. More to come in the following days and weeks!

So I'm trying to get my makeshift brake lights wired (until I get my body work). I have my brake lights wired, but how do I wire up turn signals. Looks like I need to do green/black wire and green/white wire? What do I do with the black wire (on the miata loom side)? My crappy harbor freight lights only have two wires.

My crappy harbor freight lights only have two wires. what type of light from harbor freight are you using? does it have two bolts out the back? if so the bolts are the ground point. put a ring terminal on some wire, mount to the bolt then wire that to ground. hope that helps. I have a copy of the tail light diagram for Miata. I don't know how to attach it though. I can email it to you if you want.

Where are you located? I have done a lot of research on the sb100 process. I'd be more than willing to help provide any info. PM me your email and I'll send some info. Thanks, Geoff
